I received one of those messages when I accidentally mis-typed my login info, so it's possible that you just typed it wrong--the system is case sensitive, after all...

Of course, since I live in Arizona, I have to deal with everybody else changing their clocks on me. We're on Mountain Standard Time all year long (currently the same as PDT).

I noticed that the times listed in the siteadmin say 10PM TOMORROW, 11PM TOMORROW, 12AM TOMORROW, 1AM TODAY, 2AM TODAY, etc. Since 12AM should technically be listed as "today" in this progression, is that where I'm running into trouble? I hadn't changed the settings prior to the move, so I was surprised to see things not updating as usual.

And I'm loving that Cecilia is that fast!
Okay, I see you in the system, and it's updating like this: "It's just became TODAY in California? Okay! Let's see if there's any comics for TODAY, and get 'em up!" Aka updates are triggered at 12:01 am Pacific time, reguardless of Daylight Savings Time (it auto-adjusts).

I know I am using the proper forum login, cause I used it to get in here now, I am also following all the points stated by the admins, using firefox, case sensitive etc.
I'm with this guy. I did everything on the first post regarding logging out and canceling, but it tells me I don't have an account.

The quick admin thing (are we even supposed to be using this anymore?) works for me, but not when I try a full update. I get this message:

Can't request an update: You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 'ComicGenesis_Cecilia'' at line 1.

The time I did this at is 9:32 PM Central. I'm using Firefox snd Safari.

Nope, I typed my info right, when I did it the other way, I get an 'Invalid Username' message.

I'm also getting the same "Username not valid! You must have a ComicGenesis Forum login." problem.
I'm using the correct information, I just used it to log into this forum. Case-sensitivity isn't really a problem, because I only use one case.
I've tried the steps outlined in the first post, about four times. The last time I did so slow and deliberate, to make sure I wasn't making mistakes, but I still get the same message.
I'm using the newest Mozilla, but that's been said to work.
So, like a few others, I'm kinda stuck.

I've added a bit more debugging to the 'bad username' prompts, please cut and paste the error messages when you get them.

Since I took a healthy dose of stupid pills this morning, I'm going to ask you a very basic, beginner-type question. If I want to have new comics appear on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, then when should I set my strip to update, 12AM TODAY or 12AM TOMORROW? It "defaults" to 12AM TOMORROW, but the new strip hasn't been showing up with it set at that time (even though it did before the server switch).

TODAY. Tomorrow will make your strip update on Tues, Thurs, and Sat.

when I try to download comics using siteadmin I keep getting:

Warning: move_uploaded_file(/home/space/stla/workspace/comics/20070704.png) [function.move-uploaded-file]: failed to open stream: Permission denied in /home/space/siteadmin/public_html/update_comic.php on line 149

Warning: move_uploaded_file() [function.move-uploaded-file]: Unable to move '/var/tmp/phpbuGfaq' to '/home/space/stla/workspace/comics/20070704.png' in /home/space/siteadmin/public_html/update_comic.php on line 149
20070704.png was not successfully uploaded. Please make sure /home/space/stla/workspace/comics/ is writeable

I turned to siteadmin after smart ftp and filezilla both wouldn't let me upload my comics, but I'm still getting the same problem.

I'm concerned about the last line in the error message... what does it mean for something to be writeable? is something wrong with my file?

Just as an update, when I attempt to log in to siteadmin.comicgen.com now I get the following message, slightly different than before...

Your browser did not return the expected response Dragonaur
Your browser is broken
Browser status: MSIE 7: Working
Firefox 2.0.0.4: Working
Safari 3.0.2: Working
Opera 9.21 (8776): Working
Please use Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari or Opera or something that supports HTTP Digest Authentication compliant with RFC2617!
Also you get this if you entered the wrong password

Logout to try again (hit cancel)

The first line at the top seems new to me: "Your browser did not return the expected response Dragonaur" Else wise same error.

Redwolf, Kisai -

There's lots of people saying autoupdate isn't working, so I did a test. I put today's comic (07-25-2007) in queue at 9pm CST yesterday (07-24-2007). This is way early enough and about when I've put comics in queue for years.

My update is set for "2am today", and hasn't changed since I set it in 2003. I double-checked the naming of the comic too just to be safe.

I checked this morning at 7am CST - my comic was still sitting in the workspace/comics folder, and the queue was sitting at 0. The update had not happened. I just ran a manual update. The manual update succeeded normally.

Auto-updates are not working, or are working intermittently for people. It's legit.

A day later, I still try the basic steps and here's the exact message that comes up when I try to sign in:
Username spasticdisaster not valid! You must have a ComicGenesis Forum login (or you entered a bad username or password, it is CASE SENSITIVE.)
Logout to try again (hit cancel)
The username is vaild, I'm using it to post this.
My username and password are both in lowercase, so that's not the case either.
Is there any real advice for this?

no, your forum username is 'SpasticDisaster' exactly as shown. Just because the forum doesn't care about the case, doesn't mean it's actually lowercase.

I've updated the wrong username page to make a little more sense
Forum Username kisai not valid!
You must have a ComicGenesis Forum login (or you entered a bad username or password, it is CASE SENSITIVE.)

Please see below for possible correct spellings:

Kisai

Logout to try again (hit cancel)
All this is doing is going 'okay what usernames have the same letters', however you still have to enter the username with the correct Case since the web browser generates the md5 hash from it.

Just a thought, but the title of this thread isn't really very descriptive--we might get fewer 'duplicate' threads in this forum if this thread were more obviously about things like login problems...

What does RFC2617 mean?
