Ah, cool. I thought there was supposed to be some other sort of menu there.Mercury_Hat wrote:Select it and hit the make newsbox button. It'll work in about a day or so, just wait.
NewsBOX or NewsHACK?
Well, I entered the following:YarpsDat wrote:What location did you enter on the Edit Banners page?JPSloan wrote:Ok, this whole newsbox thing has more thoroughly confused.
I created the graphic, which is 150px x 300px. I uploaded it into my Images subdirectory. I go to siteadmin and login. I go to the Edit Banners page.
When I enter the location of my newsbox in the line, and hit Submit, it comes back saying it doesn't exist. I can look on my FTP and see that it does.
No comprendo.

And now when I try to view that image from my browser, it comes up as nothing. Does selecting the Make Newsbox button mess with the file or something?

And you can't view the image from your browser because of the hotlinking prevention system- it doesn't work because bad people were using "type the url in the address bar" to steal lots of bandwidth money from keenspace.

OK I feel like a huge dork for doing this, but I gotta know if anyone has seen my ad. I put it up weeks ago, but I haven't seen it when reading other Space comics (at least ten per day). It appears to be set up OK from my end (Newsbox was set up and the file displays properly in the banners list).
Thanks!

HELP!!
I think I'm having the same problem. All my newsbox image disappeared last week and I've been busy trying to reinstall it. It shows up fine when I add it in the "Edit Banners" page, but it WILL NOT show up with a radio button when I go to the "edit comic" page, even after waiting for several days! Is anyone else having this problem?
Any advice would be great--I want my newsbox back!
Thanks in advance.

Newsbox still not there...
Well, my little old newsbox still isn't showing up on my site admin page (underneath "NewsHACK *USE AT OWN RISK*"), so I'm just going to post it here. That way, at least somebody will get to see it!
If anybody knows what else I can do, please let me know.

Question... once you do the Add Banner thing for your image, is it supposed to show up on the Edit Banners page afterwards? Currently, I have no banners showing up on that page at all, as if it was deleted. Since I've never successfully uploaded a banner, I don't know if this is the way it's supposed to work, or what. I haven't seen my newsbox, though. I think I'm not doing this right.

I had the exact same problem, but Kisai worked her magic and seemed to fix it, at least for me. Here's what I did:
1. Delete all your banners from your account via FTP
2. Wait until they're gone from "edit banners" (takes about an hour)
3. Upload them again and relink them via "edit banners"
4. Wait for a while (it took me about 12 hours) and your newsbox should show up at the bottom of your site admin page.
Try it, and if it works, go give Kisai hug.

(I am brain-dead)
I've finally made up a newsbox image--was a lot easier than I thought it would be--and I used ImageReady to make it, optimise it (gif) and turn it into an image/HTML file.
1. Did I need to do that?
2. Do I upload the whole thing (images and HTML) or just the images
3. Does anyone know how to make an emotionally dead brain work right?

By "Newsbox-image", you mean 150*300 picture advertising your comic? Or something else?
If you do mean 150*300 advertisement, then I don't know why you used ImageReady (BTW, I don't know what Image Ready is), instead of your regular Photoshop/PSP or whatever you use.
Anyways, if you have the image file, just upload it, set it as a banner, and then click the "use newsbox" button, on "edit comic" page.
