Help, I can't log in
Siteadmin login
I had another question, actually... might be related.
I originally signed up on the forums with a different account name (Felquon, same as my comic username), and the same email that I used to sign up for the site. I thought I knew my password, but didn't log in for a week and now it just won't work (for the regular forums either.) Tried every password I can think of.
The "lost forum password facility" link on http://gear.comicgenesis.com/ gives a 404 error. I signed up again with a different email address, so I could try to get help.
Would the email address discrepancy possibly affect the Siteadmin login? Also, is there any way I can recover my old forum password other than the link on the gear site? Anyone have a link that DOES work?

I'm an idiot
heh, I solved my own problem! I signed up with a different username than I thought I did. Access to my other forum account (same email as the comic registration) let me sign in to Siteadmin ^_^

You MUST use your forum name and password to log into site admin. If it keeps sending you in that frustrating endless loop, try clearing your cache and/or try another browser. I had the same issue and then it miraculously cleared up one day and I haven't had a problem since. If your comic is new it may take a few days to work too, I've noticed.

This is the error message I get when trying to log in with my FORUM login.
I don't know if it just needs time to activate (which bears the question, why did I get an email telling me it was ready when it wasn't...) but yeah. Still can't log in.
I'll give it another couple days.

Still...
It's been a week now. I still can't log in at all (keeps sending me in circles and YES, I'm logging in with my forum login). And to top it all off, the trial page that's up has spelled the title of my comic wrong.

If it's just the trial page (such as your submitted sample image) then that's not a problem. And to top it all off, the trial page that's up has spelled the title of my comic wrong.
If the name at the top of the page is not the name that you wanted, then you probably mis-typed it when you filled in the form.
Go to the comic and look at where it says "Comic Name by Author name" - this should appear just above your sample image if it's still using the default template.
If it says something like "Looking Goad" when it's meant to be "Looking Good" then I'd say that if you try to log in with "Looking Goad" (the wrong one) instead of "Looking Good" (what you wanted) then it'll let you log in straight away.
If this is the case, then you'll either need to adjust your settings to reflect the 'new' info, or re-apply for a new account with the correct name.

Re: Still...
Hmm.... So it logged you in before (albeit resulting in a bigdog error) but isn't logging you in now? That shouldn't be happening.rwbu.wsmith@gmail.com wrote:It's been a week now. Are you sure you've got the password right? Keep in mind the capitals count, so check your caps lock.
If that's not it, try requesting a different password for your forum account via your forum Profile.

At a wild guess, I'd say that you can't log in because you used an email address for your login name.
You can use funky characters (such as the underscore) for forum names without any trouble, but they won't be accepted if you try and log into the CGWiki.
Since you have a dot (shouldn't be a problem) and an @ logo in your username, that's probably why you can't log into the siteadmin (the siteadmin, CGWiki and CGForum use the same database for name / password but use different methods when checking, that's why some characters don't work for the Wiki and I have a feeling that the same applies for the siteadmin).

Your forum name isn't your email. Just pm Kisai or Mercury Hat, asking them to change your forum name. Then, you just sign in with the new name. It'll still be connected with that email address, so don't worry about that.
Or, you could just make a new forum account, and also connect it with that email.
