Well, Lab Bratz was scheduled to update at Midnight (Central) last night, and it's been almost 20 hours waiting now. The numbers (>6000 at 9am central) in the queue finally started dropping this afternoon after a major clog was defeated. However, it looks like it's clogged again and my comic still hasn't updated... :(

Also, people really weren't complaining at 5 minutes after midnight and this was not just a normal volume issue. It was clogged.

But the forums is not the only channel though which people keep panicing. They fail to read how the queue works. There are people who believe autokeen doesn't work, so they manually update. The thing is, the same process is used to manually update as it is to automatically update, and everytime you manually update you reset the time entry of where you are in the queue. You can see this in the non-8080 siteadmin update section.

Ahhh crap! I've manually updated twice today thinking that it would ADD to my earlier auto-update, not replace it with a later timestamp! So...if it's clogged, just wait for STrRedWolf to give the system the old ethereal enema and let technology take its course.

Thanks for that info, Kisai.

I was wondering- If you are in the Que. it should never go up right? People cant "jump infront of you in line" right? So it shouldnt ever go up - just down... Is that a correct assumption?

And how does it get backed up anyways? Just too much on the server?
Ive noticed it happens the most on Sunday- which is probably because there are Weekly comics that update for Monday (early to beat the rush) and then theres the semi weekly- usually also monday-- so the bulk of the comics are updated on Sunday/Monday. And if 10,000 people are trying to update at the same time-- well you have trouble...

But let me also ask (unless i seem to be annoying-- that happens sometime ^_^ -- if no one wants to answer- thats fine) If i update at 7pm EST on Sunday- and there are 700 people-- and i check later and it is still not done and i am now 3,000+ -- and soon after that (before 9pm) i am at 4000 something- that means something is wrong right? ^^;

OK, now I'm getting a little concerned.

I've done two updates today...Allright Allright I KNOW that manually updating when it's clogged will bump me to the bottom of the list.

Question is, my last update was at ...2 this afternoon, I think? I still have not gotten my page to update.

And now I'll be running into my auto update...I think...which should go off at 11.

43 minutes until the next autoupdate for us and today's comic still hasn't shown.

not that there aren't ways around it, but I'd prefer not to resort to trickery. my blog is so full of crap as it is...

The number you see on siteadmin is the number of people waiting in line. It's NOT your number in line. The number goes up everytime someone hits "Manual Update," and at every hour when scheduled updates are picked up by AutoKeen. You don't know your place in line, but that number only goes down. Unless, as Kisai has said, you manual update, which is when you go back to the end of the line.

But something is wrong. It's not, however, just you.

I've pulled my Monday update and will put it up Wednesday, or whenever this gets resolved. That's about all you can do, except give Kisai and Striker moral support.

Good luck guys.

This is weird. The page modifications I made updated fine, but the comic is stuck in the queue.

You may have uploaded those into the real folder, not the one the updater uses.

I am also concerned that every time I check the qeue I am being put at the bottom just by opening the page. Is there any way I can check where I am on the update list so I dont have to open it up via the admin section?
Sorry if I sound stupid or dont make sense, this is my first time here and I only have 3 comics uploaded.

I'm having the same issues as well. :( I've been stuck behind a queue of over 8,000 (8496 to be exact). It's now 9:31am EST and no go. :(

Thanks to whomever keeps kicking out the nasties blocking the updates!

Just letting y'all know that I'm having the same problems -- my comic did not autoupdate last night, and I see over 8500 updates in the queue. I did not set off a manual update, though. (Should I?)

No. If your site hasn't updated yet, that means your automatic update is still in the queue somewhere.

Should we keep adding updates like normal? Will they update with both updates if we do continue to update our site on a regual basis

I'd say you can do what you like just so long as you don't touch the manual update button.

I think so, yeah.

Can I add more stuff while waiting for CG to update my comic?

Yes. So long as you have a "place in the queue" because of a scheduled or manual update, you can throw more changes into \workspace and expect all changes in there to be updated when your turn comes up.

It's not working for me Aaaahhhh!!

It's not working for anyone, quit panicking. It may be completing entries from the queue, letting some people be updated but not others.

I hit Manual Update forty-hundred-bajillion times and...

Stop that. *smacks hand* Per Kisai, each time you hit manual update, your time gets RESET. That means wherever you were in the list, when you manually update you are now at the back of the list.

Can I just put my stuff into \public?

You shouldn't, no. Me saying this may not stop you, but if you do it and muck something up (and you may well muck something up) people will get mad at you for putting stuff directly into \public.

Is there actually a problem?

Looks like it yeah. This isn't the first time, it won't be the last.

Who do I bug/pester/whine to/demand/threaten to get updated?

Kisai and StrRedWolf are our admins. If you whine, demand, threaten, pester, bug, etcetera at them, they will merely learn to hate their jobs. They do us a hell of a service given that it's not a big money maker for them, they deal with confused and frustrated people, and they're effectively always on call.

Treat our admins nice. Be polite. Let them do their jobs.
