changing from normal free webspace to comicgenesis

Post by Crrash »

well i finally got the password for my comic genesis account, but now i started thinking...

my site is already done on another webspace changing from there to comicgenesis is no problem, but im wondering about the rules for comicgenesis.

is there a restriction for things on the site? from what i understood, the webspace is unlimited. but as it is a comic site it shouldnt be allowed to flood the space with other things, like own games(small ones), own skins, own game mods and whatever else.

do i have to use the comicgenesis comic archive/update system? i am using right now another one, and,
first: it took some work to get everything look as i wanted, and now i would have to change ti all again
second: it would take some work to add again about 70 comics in the new system
(but i might do this later)

also i heard i could make an own forum on comicgenesis forums, but as i have already one (pretty much modded... so it might be kinda big) i would like to keep it

You don't have to use Autokeen, but bear in mind you CAN NOT use PHP on your CGen site.

As for restrictions, unless it relates to your comic, you can't have it on your account. No roms, no warez, no mp3s, etc. If you are not the copyright-holder, you cannot have it on your site.

Adding 70+ comics using autokeen wouldn't be that hard, really. You have to backdaate them if they aren't already, upload the images into your comics folder, then run an update. Autokeen generates the archive pages for you.

You can request a forum hosted by CGen in the message board request forum.

when im making the comics i initially name them for example 050908.jpg which would be 8th september 2005, if it is that what you mean...

The correct ComicGenesis format is YYYYMMDD, otherwise it messes up the automated update process.

Autokeen only knows the date of a comic if it's YYYYMMDD, anything less than todays date numericly will never be updated, however if you dropped the century digits, autokeen would still put in the right sequence.
