I also have encountered the problem of manual updating being broken. You can log in properly, it allows you in with your password... and then when you tell it to update manually it claims you need to login. You click the link, it sends you back to the log-in page, you log in, and when you try to manually log-in... it repeats itself. Wash rinse repeat.

I'm unsure if it's specific for certain comics. Maybe it's because we've not switched over our stuff to ComicGenesis yet?
Oh, and comic name: Tangents and url: http://tangents.keenspace.com
Take care!

Same thing here
I've got the same problem, apparently, that everyone else does. I didn't worry last time I got the comic up, as the automatic updater took care of everything, but I can't log in now that I need to.

Hello! Having the exact same problem. I can log-in, get the manual update page, but then when I click on any of the update options, you can see that it starts to retrieve the correct "update-comic.cgi" url but immediately changes to "login-cgi"... at first last night it was giving me a grey page that said "sorry to use this function you must be logged in" or somesuch, and referred me to the login page. And then a couple hours later, and now this afternoon, iinstead of getting the grey page, it just automatically jumps back to the log-in page. Circular. As someone said "wash repeat rince wash repeat rince". We'd like to get to the dry and style please. heh! Thanks! http://liliane.keenspace.com

switch over?
And what does "Maybe it's because we've not switched over our stuff to ComicGenesis yet?" mean? What is "switching over"?? Does all of Keenspace have a new name? I do hope the links are going to stay the same. Dang.

still the same
i still have the same problem after changing my password. kissa.keenspace.com is my site again, so you don't have to go back and try to find it.

Re: switch over?
There is no Keenspace anymore. We ARE Comic Genesis now. Links won't stay the same, as the old Keenspace domain ( keenspace.com ) probably won't be around forever.lilianewithanose wrote:And what does "Maybe it's because we've not switched over our stuff to ComicGenesis yet?" mean? Of course, you can choose your domain ( siteadmin > edit url... , comicgeneis.com and comicgen.com are your safest choices; don't use this feature until manual update is working again though). And the Keenspace domain will continue to redirect to your site AFTER you've made the switch for as long as its around.

Do we have to change the url just yet? I'm not prepared to do that yet...
And I'm having the same 'wash repeat rinse' login problems. The url is http://shinegotower.keenspace.com . Thanks.

...?
Okay, I changed my password, and something even more weird happened...instead of the "you must sign in" page that everyone else and I got, it just spit me back out onto the login page right after I attempted to update...
*worries*
I appreciate the help, thank you very much!

fixed and name change
Well, thanks for fixing the manual update, which works for me now at least. I would be happy if this didn't come hand in hand with the news of keenspace becoming comicgenesis (which 1)is way longer to type and say being 5 syllables instead of 2 and 2) seems like a comic version of a 70's rock band together with a Bscifi movie oh well). What is up with that?
I have spent the last year and a half getting everyone who is not in the comics world to remember the name keenspace, put out banners, links, etc as much as possible to get my site publicised, printed it inside my print comics and handed out postcards everywhere I go, to be told that now that I finally have a readership the domain name will disappear? There is no way to "change" those urls. Most of the links to me, and places they have gone are totally out of my control. Livejournal strangers who have turned on more livejournal strangers etc. People who have read recent reviews of my work in international print magazines, sequential tart etc.
I have no idea what would inspire y'all to mess with that. If there are thousands of comics on Keenspace, multiply that by the thousands of readers they each have and that is a lot of people who are going to be falling through the cracks. Even telling people who have links pages that they need to change the link... many do not have direct access to their templates without going through a webmaster etc, so the updates don't happen. glll.
Secondly, why are we not sent an email from keenspace when changes like this happen? Really, if the login had not been broken, there is not a reason in the world that I would have known about it til suddenly the links didn't work. Yay for lack of communication.
Well, I guess this would be a good time to start thinking about the Modern Tales offer. Really. I had been iffy on that precisely because I didn't want to lose all the hard work getting out the keenspace URL, and losing readers with a domain name change.
New Worlds. New Dreams. um yeah. Color me peeved.
