Hi, I was wondering if there was any simple way of creating a page, or adding in to a page, a news post that would update with the sheduled updates, or at least easier than continually editting the html. If anyone can provide help, it'd be very much appreciated.
Thanks
------------------

Create a text file called 20020206z.html, and type your news into it, then stick it in your comics folder, and it will forever appear below the comic for February 6th.
------------------

The trick I use is, for every day in my archive, I create a file containing the first half of a link, and arrange the page titles so that they are placed before the comic images. Then, on my dailytemplate page, I put the closing half of the link after the ***todays_comics*** tag. This makes every archived comic a link to the next comic in the archive, so users can navigate without having to search for a pesky "next" button.
------------------

Ok, I have a question. I got the "rant" part of my site to work, and appear on the right days, etc. The only problem I've found is that the current date's "rant" doesn't appear on the main page. It only appears on the archive pages unless you add /d/(date).html on the url of the main page. Help please!
~KirA http://laststopnormal.keenspace.com

I'm seeing the oposite problem, your rant is there, but your comic isn't. Strange. Since it seems OK on your daily (/d/*.html) page, check your indextemplate for anything strange, and make sure there's no copy of it sitting in /webpages/.
BTW, you first comic is a bitmap (*.bmp), which is why it's 430k. You need to save it as a gif rather than just re-name the extention.
For comics that size, try bringing down the quality (if you're using jpg) and / or splitting it into two or more parts. It's a good idea to keep your images under 100KB, and even better if you can get them under 70.

Thank you for the advice on the comic sizes and such, we'll watch out for that.
Unfortunately, though, with the comic problem, I searched all of my folders for extra copies of the indextemplate, and anything else, but there weren't any problems I could see with that. And my html seems ok... Do you have any other suggestions? I've tried everything I could think of.
Thanks,

Ok, well, I came up with a temporary (or perhaps permanent) solution, though it'll be a pain. On the rant page I wrote in the url for the comic instead of relying on the todays_comics tag on the indextemplate. It works for now, anyways, but I'd like a better solution if anyone has one. And sorry to be so annoying with constant posts on this!
~KirA
