CGI Forums

Post by Breakpointcity »

Hey everyone,

I'm interested in installing a new forum outside of these fine regular ones, and I know that Keenspace and PHP don't mix (or at least, the free Keenspace.)

Out of blatant curriosity, would Keenspace be able to host a CGI/Perl5-based forum, like ikonBoard? I know that the AutoKeen scripts are CGI, so I figure this should be no problem. Anyone know for certain if this will work?

Thanks!
-Brian

hm...i don't think the admins have CGI enabled for our accounts, and I doubt they will specially enable it for you :( I could be wrong though, hopefully someone will give you a better answer...

p.s. If you're at RIT can you find a kid named Andrew Shank (CS major) and bug him for me ;P would be much obliged

Keenspace will allow CGI if you ask for it. They may not do so if you mention that you want to use a security-sensitive application like a forum - but do mention it anyway, it could save you trouble in the long run.

Talkaboutcomics.com runs a pretty good forum service. It's PHPBB the way it should work.
