Okay, NOW I'm confused

Post by Drywit »

I can FTP into my account fine... and I can upload things fine... but when I try to use the tags (***whatever***) it shows up not as the function, but as text on my page!! For example, instead of the tag ***advertisement*** making an advertisement appear, it makes the text ***advertisement***" appear on the page. What?? Is somebody not telling me about a script I need to have uploaded or something? Am I just stupid? Thanks all....

you should upload indextemplate.html and dailytemplate.html to workspace/ not public_html/
If it doesn't work, make it.

Try editing the indextemplate.html in /workspace instead of the index.html

It's fine now, just needed an update to be run.

And are you sure you don't have copies of indextemplate.html and dailytemplate.html where they shouldn't be?
http://siteadmin.keenspace.com/~drywit/ ... plate.html
shouldn't be there, compare to:
http://siteadmin.keenspace.com/~maniaca ... plate.html
If it doesn't work, make it.

Yep it just takes a little while to kick in. I was this (gestures a really small thingy) close to creating a topic identical to this and a moment before submitting I went back to double check if the advertisement still wasn't working, and well... it turned out to be unnecessary.

Okay, things seem to be working okay now. This auto/system-wide update stuff is gonna take some getting used to... Thanks all.
