Post by Nifboy »

Will the ***todays_comics*** tag display .png files, or do I need to img src it in an html file?

PNG's are bad for you.

:) .png 's are good but I wouldn't recomend them(unless you like them like I like jpg. 's). Even though they're supported they may load like crap on some browsers. Or,they may load weird and shaded. If you want a file converter go to Google and search for a freeware file converter called Irfanview 3.70
The best thing to happen to some people,is Resident Farmer. The best thing to happen to me is cel-shaded graphics and translated Japanese Anime. Whoo-hoo!

Support for pngs does vary on the browser, but graphics programs have also been known to screw up. It depends on your audience, really. Internet Explorer 5+, Netscape 4+ (I think), and most other non-ancient browsers handle pngs fine. If you think our users might be using old browsers, use .gifs and jpegs, otherwise use pngs. pngs are smaller and look better than jpegs of the same size. jpegs don't work well for most webcomics because they were designed for photographs which are very diffrent from most comics, which have larde areas of the same color. gifs work fine for comics that use a small number of colors and are great for comics done in grayscale. Make sure you set your graphics program to grayscale (if your comics are supposed to be grayscale of course). If you can, it will dramaticlly reduce the size of image file.
