FTP Problems [Solved]

Post by Zemalac »

The short version: I need to get access to my site by FTP, but it isn't working for some reason.

The long version: Ever since my last computer died on me, I've been using the SiteAdmin uploader to get my comics online, because it was fast and easy and I couldn't get my FTP connected again for some reason. Recently though a few of my comics haven't updated when I wanted them to, even though I'd uploaded them, named correctly for the date when they were supposed to come up. When it was just one comic that had vanished, I was fine--I could work around that, and it was probably an accident on my part. Now though it's two comics it's happened to, which is a trend and which must be stopped.

So I tried to get my FTP working. Here's the message I've been getting:

Mem -- 4,194,303 KB, Virt -- 2,097,024 KB
Started on Tuesday September 29, 2009 at 20:30:PM
Resolving ofdoom.comicgenesis.com...
Connect socket #772 to 66.220.2.20, port 80...
Can't establish connection --> ofdoom.comicgenesis.com:80 @ Tue Sep 29 20:31:04 2009 (0-38)

I have no idea what I'm doing wrong, but I need to get into the site so I can add the missing comics to the archives. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
-Zem

This is just a random guess, but, port 80? Try setting it to port 21.

Well, that changed the error message I get...

220-Local time is now 21:23. Server port: 21.
220-This is a private system - No anonymous login
220-IPv6 connections are also welcome on this server.
220---------- Welcome to Pure-FTPd [TLS] ----------
USER Zemalac
331 User Zemalac OK. Password required
PASS **********
530 Login authentication failed

What I'm getting from this is that I have the wrong password. Good to know. Now all I have to do is find my actual password, or figure out how to change it...

Thanks for the help. I think I can get this sorted out now.

EDIT: I went back to the original email that I got, which had my FTP information in it, and apperantly I'd been using the wrong username. Which makes me feel like a complete idiot.
