Linking comic to forum name?

Post by LeftAtTheFork »

Okay, so I am trying to get my comic set up. I can access all the files in the FTP, but all I can do is look at them. I cannot upload files nor can I rename or delete. I am assuming this is because of the fact that my comic is not linked to the forum user name (according to what I have been reading on CG Wiki). Any info as to what I may be doing wrong or should do instead would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!
Danger, LATF.

Are you making sure to add files using workspace and not public_html?

You are supposed to put things in workspace, then use the Comic Genesis control panel to update your comic. (Click on "Login" at the bottom of the comicgenesis.com home page. Log in using your user name and password from the forum.)

Hope this helps.

GooseBump City - A comic about life... the life of toys anyway. (We still aren't doing anything new)
Shapes, the Unanimated Series - It's seriously just a square, a triangle, and a circle (It's arrived, but not ready to be shown)
Halloween Cameo Caper 2009 . . . Sign up.
Currently reading: Atavism - Cope wins 'cause he replied first (I can't believe it concluded!)
Brothers (and Sisters) in Joining:
Hydriatus | evelynp | Xaybiance The Weird | poporetto | ]Blaze Series | Derek Dragomir | piggylove1940 | Synaptic-misfires
(I'm only allowed five URL's, so I'll just rotate)

JPac is close, but not quite right.

You do indeed use FTp to upload comics and to change the look of your comic (you change the look by downloading the two templates indextemplate.html and dailytemplate.html, editing them in NotePad or equivalent and then re-uploading them).

You do indeed put things into workspace, don't put things into public_html. When you have comics that you want to upload, you name them for the date you want them to appear (for example, the comic for Christmas last year would be named 20081225.jpg) and you upload them to the workspace/comics folder.

However, you don't need to log into SiteAdmin to trigger updates manually - the server will attempt to update your comic once every 24 hours, 365 days a year. At the moment there is a problem with SiteAdmin not letting new people in, but you don't need to use SiteAdmin to run your comic.

Feel free to ask any questions you might have.

I knew about the workspace vs public_html files. I was once on here with a different comic back when this was KeenSpace.

A problem with Site Admin letting new people in, you say? Maybe that's it then.

Thanks for your input, both of you. :) I will try just using the FTP later tonight then.
