Site Admin Login Problems (kinda fixed for now)
Site Admin Login Problems (kinda fixed for now)
So I'm trying to login now using the same info I've always used and I keep getting this page...
Forum Username theworms not valid!
You must have a ComicGenesis Forum login (or you entered a bad username or password, it is CASE SENSITIVE.)
Please see below for possible correct spellings:
Logout to try again (hit cancel)
I like how it says "forum username not valid" because I'm not using my forum username. I never have and I've always logged in. Your system told me to use the name of my comic as my username on the siteadmin and then this page says otherwise. Eitherway, I can't login now using theworms, my name here, or anything else.
Any ideas?

Re: Site Admin Login Problems
Have you tried logging in with your Forum username (MattRo) and password? Once you've logged in, it should take you to a page where you can sign in to your comic account (FTP username and password).
CHRONICLES OF GATHION: A tale of action, adventure and muffins...though mostly muffins.

Re: Site Admin Login Problems
As said in the first post, yeah. I tried three different names and three different passwords for each. None logged me in. I then verified that the original one I used was right, and still nothing.

Re: Site Admin Login Problems
When you log into SiteAdmin, you always use your forum username and password. This is how the system works.
You use the comic's name (theworms) when you are logging directly into your comic via FTP.
In addition, when you log into the forum, you need to make sure that you log in with the right capitalization.
For Example:
Log into forums with MattRo + log into SiteAdmin with MattRo = Success!
Log into forums with MattRo + log into SiteAdmin with mattro = Fail.
Log into forums with mattro + log into SiteAdmin with MattRo = Fail.
Log into forums with Mattro + log into SiteAdmin with MattRo = Fail.
If you tried logging into SiteAdmin with MattRo and it didn't work, then log out of the forums, log in with MattRo and then log into SiteAdmin with MattRo and you should be able to get in. More Information here.yh

Re: Site Admin Login Problems
Ok, let's go over this again. The only reason I posted here is because there's a problem. That means that the regular stuff that works, isn't.
I tried three different usernames, one I pulled out of nowhere just to try because nothing else was working, and three different passwords, all of which could be the right one. I tried each password with each username. In all of this mess, the correct combination was tried numerous times and I can't login. It wouldn't let me login. Even with the right username and password.
So, can anyone help me out please?

Sorry for double posting, but just for shits and giggles this is what I get when I login with the appropriate info.

When you click that, do you hit cancel on the login screen that appears, or just keep entering your username and password?
Re: Site Admin Login Problems
Sorry, but we have to eliminate the more common user errors first. And what usually works for you, isn't what people are supposed to do. So we have to first determine what happens when we're sure you're doing everything right.
If your forum username really doesn't get you into siteadmin, try creating a new forum account. Make sure it starts with a capital letter and has no _s in it (like Mattro2). Log into the forums with that new username, then see if you can log into the siteadmin the same way.
If that works, you can connect your FTP account to your new siteadmin account.

Re: Site Admin Login Problems
Hmm...
What firewall are you using? And did you recently go from XP to Vista?Referred from: No Referrer found, Opera? Norton? McAfee? ZoneAlarm?
Re: Site Admin Login Problems
I already have two accounts here for the two comics that I have now on CG. However, I don't see how that should affect me logging in to either. If so, let me know.
I've been on Vista since before I started doing this.
Logout to try again... I've done both with that. But when I was trying the different usernames and passwords, this is how I was doing it. Otherwise I was just clicking cancel. Or however that works.
So, is it typical to have a different FTP username from your site admin username? Because I can login with Filezilla just fine using theworms.comicgenesis.com and theworms as a username. The password has always been the same for both.
I do appreciate all of you trying to help. And I do apologize for my asshole-ish attitude on that post. I'm just really frustrated and would like to update my pages.
EDIT: I just searched through my email and found a time when I had to change my password. So I clicked the links and found the page again where you can change your password. I entered the stuff as I wanted it... username theworms and my new password. I got the verification email and inserted the auth code and all seemed to be well. I tried logging in again and got the same problem.
EDIT 2: I just tried logging in again using my new password and my forum username. Still didn't work. I clicked cancel and went up to the address bar and deleted all of the "logout" stuff to make the url just the siteadmin url and clicked enter. It took me to my siteadmin, logged in with my forum username.
I'm not sure what's going on or why this is happening, but I'm going to get all I can get done now so when this happens tomorrow it won't matter as much lol.

Re: Site Admin Login Problems (kinda fixed for now)
Most odd.
In theory, there is no need to have multiple forum accounts. Users should be able to log into SiteAdmin once, with their forum name and password and then be able to link X number of comics to their forum account.
Getting into SiteAdmin can be a bit of a hassle, but normally there is no need to if you can still use FTP. Comics and templates are uploaded via FTP, and SiteAdmin is only used once or twice a year for when the user needs to change the comics' settings for whatever reason.
If neither of the two forum accounts that you have are letting you log into SiteAdmin then I would suggest first, try logging in from a different computer (to see if it is your computer or the account that is the problem).
If that does not work, post again and I'll see what I can do.

What is typical is an FTP username made from your site address - theworms or lleugarnock - and a siteadmin username made from your forum username - MattRo or Wendybird. Your siteadmin password should change with your forum password - that is, if you go to user control panel, profile, edit account settings, and change your forum password, your siteadmin password should change accordingly - without the need for email authentication.MattRo wrote: So, is it typical to have a different FTP username from your site admin username? From any Siteadmin account, you should be able to access any comic that you have the FTP username and password for, so if you can get into siteadmin from the account where you control your other comic, you should be able to add and change settings for theworms.comicgenesis.com
Could you post the link here? I'm curious as to whether it's the lost password facility for FTP, forums, or a strange outdated one for Siteadmin alone.MattRo wrote: EDIT: I just searched through my email and found a time when I had to change my password. Sure
http://siteadmin.comicgenesis.com:8080/ ... ssword.cgi
As far as using one siteadmin login name for more than one comic, how do I get that to work?
Also, I've noticed that my stuff won't update if I don't do a regular or full update if I change anything at all, like the order of my comics or anything. So I sort of have to be able to login to it, otherwise I wouldn't.
EDIT: I'm now noticing with all of these problems that I can't do anything with my new account here. I can't login with FTP, I can't login to the site admin, nothing. SO, just delete it. Who do I tell to do that for me since I can't do it myself? It's fortunecookies.comicgenesis.com.
Honestly, this is starting to get a little ridiculous.
