Hello.
I've been searching around Comic Genesis Wiki and the Help Forum, but I found nothing nor any topics on this matter.
So, I've been trying to build the html and css code for my comic's website on Comic Genesis, and so far there's nothing wrong with that, but what I'd like to do is see how it looks so far after being uploaded to my Comic Genesis FTP account. The thing is that the website only updates itself once a day therefore not letting me check my recent updates on the codes.
So I ask: Is it possible to request/force a comic update whenever I feel like it?
Is it possible to request/force a comic update? [SOLVED]

Re: Is it possible to request/force a comic update?
Yes there is.
Log into SiteAdmin using your forum name and password. If your comic is not listed there (which it won't if it's the first time you go in there) then you should see two boxes at the bottom where you can add your comic - just enter the comics' ftp name and password.
Once you have your comic added, you will be able to request an update. There are three types - index, regular or full.
Index update will only update your front page.
Full update will force an update of every single page of your comic (including extra pages).
Regular will be like a normal update which will update your index, any extra pages that have changed and your previous three weeks worth of archives (but not older comics unless the dailytemplate.html file has changed).
Two things to remember - one, the server takes between a few seconds to several hours to do the update depending on server load and how many comics are in the queue in front of you. Two, once the comic has been updated, make sure that you refresh your browser so you are not looking at the old version in the cache on your computer. And three, if you make repeated update requests your comic gets pulled out of the queue and sent to the back of the line so only ask once - it'll go through, it just might take a while.
And this information is available on this page of the CGWiki.

Re: Is it possible to request/force a comic update?
Oh, so it was in the CG Wiki. I had been to that page while looking for this problem. I'm still glad I asked though.
Ok, so like you mentioned:

So, does that mean I should wait until my update requests have been answered before I request another update? Otherwise, more requests before the first one has even been answered will move them all the way to the back of queue/line? And if so, aside from being moved to the back of the queue/line, will they remain as multiple requests or be merged into one?Dr Neo Lao wrote:"...if you make repeated update requests your comic gets pulled out of the queue and sent to the back of the line so only ask once - it'll go through, it just might take a while."

Re: Is it possible to request/force a comic update?
If the server is busy / running slow / grumpy and you request an update then an hour later request another (but the first has not been processed) then the first request is removed, the new one is added to the back of the queue and you'll need to wait longer.
When you log in to request an update, you should see at the bottom left "X Comics in queue". Depending on the time of day, X can be between 0 and 2,000. Under normal circumstances each comic only takes a few seconds to process, but it can vary. There is only one server which both shows comics to everyone reading around the world and updates and runs everything in the background.
However, sometimes one will log in, see "2 comics in queue", request an update, see "3 comics in queue", wait a while and then see "0 comics in queue". The logical conclusion is that all comics (including yours) have been processed. But when they look at their comic, nothing has changed.
If this happens, make sure that you refresh your browser, because you might be looking at the cache on your computer rather than the new version on the server.
