FTP Problem [solved]

Post by ZOMG!Felipe »

Okay, so I can log in to site adim and forums, but when I try to log in to the FTP, it says that the Login Authentication failed. I use SmartFTP and I tried using the CGen FTP, but it couldn't log me into that either.I have activated both my siteadmin and forum account, and have even changed my FTP password and activated it, but nothing seems to work. I can see my website, but I can't get in to change anything T-T Is there a way to fix this?

If you can get into Siteadmin, then you can still upload new comic images if you have them.

I assume that for ftp you are using aftertheend as your username and your password? Your forum name (as mentioned in the other thread) will give you grief with that ! in the middle.

The only thing I can think of right now is that if you copy + paste your password, you might be accidentally copying an extra blank space on the end.

Check your firewall software.

Also, try logging in from another computer to see if the problem is on your computer or with your account.

On an unrelated note, you may want to correct the spelling mistake in the "Website" part of your profile ;)

ahahah thanks. It figures I spelled SOMETHING wrong.
Okay, so another problem oppoed up. I'm so embaressed from asking so many questions!
I did what you said and also changed FTP clients to Firezilla. It actually logs me in, but the thing is I can't download the dailytemplate or the indextemplate, unless I open them in Adobe Contribute by hitting "view", however I cannot edit the html code. I am able to open every other folder, though. Also, my whole website has become a jumbled mess because I tried to delete the sample comic and upload a new one, but now nothing appears. You don't actually upload comics through the FTP right? I got confused and di that by mistake...T-T
Otherwise, I am able to log into Wiki now. Hurray!

You can upload comics via ftp and you can also do it via siteadmin.

If your account does not have any comics in it at the moment, I'd advise uploading three random images (that you've made) with dates from last month - just to make sure that your account isn't deleted.

I don't see why it wouldn't let you download your templates, unless there is something weird going on with Filezilla. In theory, so long as you are looking at the workspace side you should be able to upload and download files to your hearts content.

When you upload comics, make sure that you put them in the workspace/comics folder. Also note that they won't show up straight away - either the server will update automatically (which it does every day) or you can trigger a manual update from siteadmin.

It sounds like you have some settings to change in your computer in order to edit the html pages. Once you have the template(s) on your computer, you should edit them with NotePad or something similar (depending on your OS). Don't use MSWord as it adds all sorts of rubbish to your code.

You may need to right-click and choose "open with" rather than trying to double-click.
