Hello, I'm Nalem. I was originally "Melchan" back when I first joined "Keenspace." (Now Comic Genesis). I joined back in 2004 and abandoned my comic in 2005. (Sorry) But now I'm back and I want to start updating again.
Thing is back when I left, it was keenspace, and everything worked differently. I also kind of... forgot my password.
Do I click somewhere to get it again or do I contact someone for help?
I'm not too sure what I'm suppose to do. Sorry
I searched through the help forums and found nothing that can help me out.
As far as I know, the lost password utility still works. This will send you a new password, provided you're using the same email you were using back then. If you don't have access to that email account, you're out of luck.
This is for FTP passwords. For forum passwords.... I have no idea. It's okay to use the account you made this post with, though. Just head into siteadmin with your forum name, then click "add a comic" and enter your ftp name.
This is going in my notebook titled "Things I Didn't Know about Surface Dwellers."
The best thing to do (from the information that you've provided) would be to go to your existing comic (via a browser), download all the content to your computer, create a new account and upload your old data.
For both of you, the system may have changed since you were here, but the passwords / usernames would still be the same.
If you use the login button at the bottom of this page, enter the name of your original forum account (the same as it was in Keenspace) and the same password, then it will let you back in.
If you use the "send me my password" facility on the forum, then it will send it to the email that you used when you first joined.
If you no longer remember your usernames / passwords or worse - no longer use that email address, then it'll be easier for you to simply create a new account.
Just to confirm: you're putting your forum name and password into the siteadmin http authentication aren't you? Not your ftp name / password.
Assuming that you are, try logging in from a computer that has as much different from yours as possible (different browser, different ISP, different OS if possible) just to make sure that it's not a problem on your computer.
We did have one person recently who thought that CG was bvroken but it turned out that they had some peersafe antivirus or something running in the background which wouldn't let them use http authentication.
If a different computer has the same results, then it's probably your account.
The only thing that I can suggest is to download all your comics and stuff from your old account via the browser and then re-upload everything to a brand new account.
