Concerning Pogs

Post by Bellcountycomics »

How long does it usually take for a pog to be accepted?

it shows next to my pog that its not accepted.. does it mean its pending to be accepted? or it was automatically not accepted for some error or reason?

It can take a few days or a few weeks, depending on how much free time the pog-checkers have.

Yes. If your pog is rejected, it will disappear from siteadmin, and you should receive a private message detailing why it was rejected.

If it helps, they don't reject many pogs. Only a certain type of png gets rejected, and only because it doesn't show up in some versions of IE. It's the Genchans that get rejected for quality.
This is going in my notebook titled "Things I Didn't Know about Surface Dwellers."

Mine was rejected at first because it was a 24-bit PNG file. They can only accept pogs that are saved as 8-bit Index Mode PNGs.

Just exporting from Photoshop as a PNG file or transparent image made it 24 bit, I had to use Imageready to fix it, but sometimes it's easier to save as a gif.

But yeah, it can take a few days to a week.

I made sure the pog was 256 colors just as the manual instructed. And I did everything else correctly.. so I suppose its just a matter of waiting.
Meh well, I was patient enough to wait for my account to open, I can be patient enough to see my Pog hit the front page.

And yes, I did collect pogs, back when they were cool

Ctrl+Alt+Shift+S will take you to "Save for Web" and you can select 24-big png, 8-Bit png, gif, jpg, or wbmp files, with varying quality. It's handy, and no program changing.

you stack up your pogs and hit them with a slammer (a sort of bigger, heavier pog made of plastic or metal)

Any that flipped over face down, you kept, the ones that landed face up get stacked back up.

Your opponent does the same until the stack is gone. The one with the most pogs wins.

It wasn't uncommon to "play for keeps" Where rather than just tally score by pogs, you both contributed an equal number of pogs to the stack and kept the ones you flipped. Or you could even bet your slammer on the outcome if you wanted. I never tried that as I wouldn't risk my prized pewter chained slammer.

I think I still have that thing somewhere.

Thanks! I didn't know that.. usually I do animated gifs in ImageReady, so that's where I'm used to saving for web. good to know in the future! :)

Oh man, I loved those things.

Mostly because I'm a packrat with a penchant for shiny things. I'd have collected those free AOL CDs if I thought I could get away with it. Instead Ive contented myself with one free metal CD mailer case which I use to store sewing needles.

Slammers! That's what I'd been trying to think of earlier.. I knew I hit the pogs with some big plastic thing, just couldn't recall what.

I'd never bet my slammer either, the big plastic angry dog was lucky, I tell you. He knew no fear.
