publication request allowance

Is it ok to have a note that newpapers or publications can contact you to publish a comic or two? Or is that out of bounds?

From what I saw on your site, it doesn't seem to go against any CG rules that I know of.

However, pretty much all situations are covered by the following:

If you are not making any financial gain, go nuts.

If you are making a financial gain from any source as a result of your CG account then you need to enter into a profit sharing agreement with Comic Genesis.

The actual specifics will vary and are assessed on a case-by-case basis as far as I'm aware. If you're only making a few cents or dollars (such as from Project Wonderful ads) then it seems that the admins don't worry too much about it. But if your comic entered syndication and was published in newspapers and you were making an income from that, then you would definately be wanting to speak to the admins....

(Note that I'm not an admin or staff of CG, that's just what I've learned from reading through the TOS, supplied information and the forums.)

Of course, if demurrersurprise got picked up by a syndicate, the comic site would most likely be moved to that syndicate's site, so the question of profit sharing would become moot...

(I'm not an employee of CG but I've been around for a while, so hear me roar!)

You retain every right to your comic. There is nothing preventing you from publishing your comic both on comicgenesis and in a newspaper, as an example.

As long as you do not use CG hardware and bandwidth directly to make money, you are fine. That is why tipjars and links to your cafepress or other online stores are fine: you are not actually taking anything from CG with those.

As was mentionned, Project Wonderful is currently tolerated, though nothing keeps CG from changing its stance on this issue at any time, weither as a whole or on a case by case basis.

Well, I guess I will think about that. I may remove the note, and just try to get published offline, and keep comicgenesis for my main site. I'm not totally sure what Ill do.

To be honest though, I suspect I have to improve my quality, and change my style for most newspaper publications. Currently a lot of my comics are too wordy and long for most newspapers (they like more visual comics). I still have fun with it though.
