Can't log in

Post by Zanathium »

Hi. My name is Jamila and I'm painfully new to ComicGenesis. I signed up for an accout about two weeks ago. Well, longer than that, but that's about when I got my password setup and all. I changed my password and activated the new one, and I can't log in. Not at all. After I click the <login> button, the system just spits be back out onto the Log In page. What's going on? I know that my account has in all probability been deleted by now, but, still, I need to know what happened, so when I sign up again (as I assure you I will), I can avoid this. Please, any help would appreciated.

I doubt your comic has been deleted already. I believe the rule is three months...?

Anyway, a lot of people have password problems. It sometimes may take a while for a new password to work. If it's been a couple days since you changed it...

Make sure you're logging in correctly. From the "login" button on the front page(at the blue login screen), you'll be required to login with your forum account first. Then, you can go to "add a comic" in the subsequent screen to add the comic username and password.

signup problems

Post by Darkphoenix36000 »

hi, I've been signing up, and like people have said before me, all I get is a blank signup page, I thought the problem might be with my computer, so I switched computers, but the same thing still happened. Sorry if you've already addressed this. Also sorry if you get a billion accout requests from me.

Email Woes

Post by White Kitten »

I signed up at comicgenesis to have my comic, Sweet Nothings, posted here. I've checked to see the status, and it tells me that the confirmation email has been sent and is waiting for me to activate it, lest it be purged...

I had to sign up to post this question here in the forum, and I got that confirmation and activation email almost instantaniously, but I have yet to see the email regarding my webcomic. I know I shouldn't be worrying about it, since I've only been waiting for about an hour, as it said, but can someone please tell me why it isn't coming through, when the forum one did? When can I expect to recieve it?

thanks

p.s. if my app did go through i apologise in advance as i re submitted it a few times before discovering the help button. sorry
I'm having the same issue. I thought maybe my internet was messing up; but it'd still be nice to know. basically: Should we see a Confirmation Page after submitting?

The confirmation email can take up to 48 hours to arrive. I don't know why, but it does. So don't sweat it until you've waited for a couple days. Image

72 hours later

Post by Darkphoenix36000 »

hi...um, it's been 72 hours since I tried to sign up.....no e-mail. I did send about 8 or 9 things because I thought it wasn't working, would that maybe affect the amount of time it takes. does the system thing I'm Spam? should I try again?

Blank Submission Form After Hitting Verify?

Post by Kittany »

Okay, because no one answered my question before and I just fixed it...

To anyone who's form just refreshes to a blank submissionform when they hit verify, try again later. After hitting verify, you SHOULD be redirected to a page that says your email has been sent.

I don't know why it does this, but when it does it means your email wasn't sent and your account wasn't made, so waiting doesn't do anything. Just try again someother time; restart your browser... try anything. I had to wait 3 days for it to work again.

Thank you Kittany. Truth is, few of us know how to fix that problem.

Pheonix, what's your comic name? I'll check the lists manually to see if you're there.

This may be an issue with your email service. Some providers (such as AOL, hotmail, etc) bounce CG mail. Make sure to check your junk email folder, and consider trying a different email server.

I'm about the throw in the towel and try registering for Drunk Duck.

I've been trying every hour or so for the past 2 days. I've tried Firefox, a crappy version of IE, Netscape, Safari. I've quit and restarted browsers, cleared caches and cookies, done all the little tricks I can think of. And STILL I get no confirmation page (only a blank version of the page I just submitted), as with many of the prior posters in this topic.

The Comic Genesis wiki suggested tying a forum account to a comic account- probably for issues unrelated to this one, but I'm losing patience and trying odd things.

Kittany, I'm willing to wait one more day and hope that maybe it'll just <i>happen</i> to work.

(Apologies for being a reiteration of the past bazillion posts.)

very frustrating

Post by Cwickedj »

after waiting 14 days, checking my email daily if not more frequently, and never getting a single email, I check it today to find I finally have an email from here... one that tells me that I did not reply within 14 days so I have to start over! How is it that I can get that email but not the origional important email?
Im trying again, lets hope it works this time... otherwise I may have to find another site because I wont do this a third time...

Issue: Blank page
Cause: You aren't waiting long enough
Reason: System attempts to send the email from the form (one of the reasons I want to retire it and use a different form), which resuilts in a DNS lookup of your email server which could take up to 60 seconds. If you resend it right away, that DNS is cached and it just works instantly.

Issue: Didn't recieve email
Cause: Filtered, or you misspelled your email.
Reason: You need to whitelist emails from comicgenesis.com , there is no human attendant at the emails, so if your email bounces, nobody sees it. It just expires after 14 days.

If you are still waiting for an email after a few hours, your email is wrong. Simple. Verizon and AOL have overzealous filtering, earthlink has whitelisting only option, hotmail, yahoo have whitelisting options.

The problem comes from idiots marking all their email they don't recognize as spam, hence automated spam filters think all CG email is spam on some sites.

well, I think I figured out my problem, the sample comic I was trying to upload was too large. go figure, reading isn't my strong suit. but now I've come across another problem. I've changed the image so that it meets the 500Kb limit. and I've filled everything out, all peachy, but when I click verify, it tells me that my file I'm trying to upload is no good, bad filename or something, so I was wondering if I should change the program used to open it, or compress it, or something.

What type of image are you saving it as? I understand that only JPEGs, PNGs and GIFs will be accepted; A.K.A. no BMPs.

Also, what image editor are you using?

You need to upload a comic that is under 500KB, the upload script kills uploads once it hits 500KB. If you can't resize/resample/recompress to 500KB, then the signup script will keep breaking.

I finally got the page that says the e-mail was sent. now all I have to do is wait for the e-mail. I sure hope this was the hardest part of this ordeal. Thanks for all your help.

I know a lot of people are asking about this, but I'm afraid I need help too
I filled out the form for my comic Kill the Messenger, but I never did get the email. It's only been 3 days, but I was just wondering how long it's supposed to take. Sorry, I'm probably just being impatient. I checked my signup status and it said:

Signup found, status:
Signup Acvivated

But..why no email?
