Help Updating

Wow, my third time asking for help! I'm becoming a regular! Anyways...

I have a simple question. It's probably exteremly easy and I'm just looking over it. But how do I upload the next page to my comic? I'm using SmartFTPv2.0 for the FTP, but I can't figure out how to upload it. And after I upload it in the FTP what do I do? Do I upload it in the Site Admin? How do I upload it there?

Help please.

Usually with an FTP program all you have to do is have the comic set up with the proper naming format (YYYYMMDD.extension) and drag and drop it into the workspace/comics folder. After that, in the site admin, you click on "Upload/Update Comic" and hit either full update, regular update, or index update depending on what you're doing and wait in the queue for your turn to be updated; should only take a few minutes if there's no one else in line. ^_^

But I'm still lost. On it all.

I dragged the file to the FTP thing, but I'm not sure if it worked. How do I know? Is it suppose to be in JPEG format? And... what do all the update 'regular ect.' mean? It doesn't seem to update, it keeps going:

Do *NOT* use full updates unless you know you have to. Full updates are very taxing on the server and are not necessary except in a handful of specific cases.

Here's how you're supposed to do it in SmartFTP:

(ETA: Oh, and as a rule of thumb, avoid having spaces in file names. It screws up some browsers. Also, if you want the automated updater to sort things out properly, use the correct naming standard, which is to use the date you want the comic to go up: YYYYMMDD (example: 20060607.jpg). Also, you do not have to trigger a manual update. Your site updates automatically once a day, only use manual updates if you can't/don't want to wait for whatever reason.).

OOOOH! Alright, thank you. I understand it a lot more now. Only one more question. If I don't hit full update, which one do I choose? Or does it not matter?

Usually regular update will do the trick, especially if you're adding something that's supposed to be out "today."

Okay... maybe I'm doing it wrong. But it still won't go up on the site admin. Maybe I'm uploading it wrong. I'm uploading it through the folder I have marked 'sedition' in My Pictures. Is there another place I'm suppose to upload it from?

Where you upload it from doesn't matter. It's where you are uploading it to that matters. Think of it this way: you have files in a cabinet (your comp) and are transferring them to another cabinet (comicgenesis server). As far as comicgenesis is concerned, it doesn't matter how things were sorted in your cabinet; what matters is how things are sorted in its own cabinet.

I don't get what you mean by "it won't go up to the site admin"... I get that you probably uploading files correctly using SmartFTP, then you went to the siteadmin... and then what?
