Soylent Green and others of its ilk are the retarded offspring of a brain-damaged intellectual elitist. The author of "The Population Bomb" should be publicly flogged and then dragged off in chains for the damage his pseudo-intellectual, humanophobic, fact-devoid fearmongering book has wrought in th...

Actually, it's just a standard revolver--- modified to operate in a vacuum (oxygen in the bullet propellant, special lubricants that won't boil away in a vacuum, alloys and ceramics that resist expansion or contraction due to cold or heat....)

the reason most people "get it wrong" is because they WANT to get it wrong. It's more personally convenient that way. And I've noted before that the first defense of someone wishing to do what they know is wrong is to play dumb. "Define 'sex.' " "But you didn't SAY that." "Why did you do that?? 'I d...

In this situation it's more a matter of
"never underestimate the average person's ability to explain away the unusual, the alarming or the inconvenient."

I'm trying to decide which annoys me more. The head-up-the-butt insistence that "Socialism isn't communism", or the petulant attempt to equate Christianity with Islam.

As someone pointed out some time ago, "Relativity, Causality, and FTL. Pick any two." General Relativity is probably the most thoroughly and exhaustively verified theory there is. However, they've been finding quite a few gaps and flaws in it for quite some time. (the theoretical tachyon particle i...

Keep in mind he's a sci fi author, and although his speculations are feasible they would be far from inevitable. Yes, it might have gone badly for Americans, north AND south, had the CSA seceded. (Though I submit that if the North hadn't been a hypocritical ass about it and just let them go, that wo...

Fantastic idea, but the ONLY way they're going to allow it at first is for sworn law-enforcement officers and soldiers. After a while, common sense and good results might expand the plan. The gun practice ranges in major metropolitan areas would have to build airliner mock-ups for training drills -...

I watched the news earlier tonight with dismay... as I've said in other threads, I'm praying that my flight isn't affected by this recent situation.
