Re: COMIC: The Adventures of Kanira Baxter
Anyway, your character models could use some work, but trying to make your comic look better, in your case, could get extremely expensive quickly. If you are using Maya, which is what I think you're using. 3D Studio MAX. I would try to make them more realistic, at least as much as you can w/o spend...

Re: WRITING: What to call sci-fi money
So space-ship instead of star-ship? Interesting choice. It's a space opera thing; I'm tryign to conjure up a kind of "pulp" vibe that I feel has been eschewed by sci-fi in recent years. C-Bucks sounds just a little too much like C-Bills, but it does roll of the tongue cleaner than Buckazoids. Space...

NEED HELP: Can't update comic
For some reason, my comic didn't update last night like it was supposed to. I checked the comics folder, and the comic for today wasn't in there, so I re-uploaded it. But because I'm a new user, I don't have access to the proper site admin, and the OLD site admin isn't letting me in like it used to,...

Re: WRITING: What to call sci-fi money
Just an idea. Credits seem to be the default, but that's not very creative. Maybe something with bucks then, since people will understand that immediately. Galaxy-Bucks, Space-Bucks, Star-Bucks (No pun intended), Cyber-Bucks. Buckazoids was good. Hee! Actually, Star-Bucks AS a pun tickles me...but,...

Re: Who else is doing a few strips for Halloween?
If my comic were a daily strip instead of a graphic novel, I probably would.
But...it's not. So I won't. Wouldn't make a lick of sense, given my format.

Re: WRITING: What to call sci-fi money
I don't think this is a hard sci-fi story we're talking about here. No...no, we're not. My comic has a lot more in common with cheesy Space Opera than it does with, say, 2001: A Space Odyssey . Besides, I'd not JUST looking for slang. I'm also looking just for what to call the unit of currency offi...

Re: Sci-Fi Slang
Also, I am sure the original Battle Star Galactica has lots of slang in it somewhere, if you stomach that disco sci-fi Well, heck, I've got THAT on DVD! :) But aside from 'frak', which IS in there all I can remember is 'felgercarp' or 'feldercarb' or whatever it was (seemed to change from episode t...

Re: Sci-Fi Slang
Well, I'm open to suggestions. I've used 'dreg' about five or six times in 86 pages, and once I had a character say, "crapstorm", which is a truly repellant (and hilarious) mental image... But none of these are really the kind of sci-fi slang I'm looking for. I mean, my sci-fi universe definitely ha...

Re: COMIC: The Adventures of Kanira Baxter
Oh, boy, does it EVER let me get the comics out quickly! Granted, if I ever need to build a new set or a couple of new characters, it can take a while...but I've built in a one month lead time just for such occasions. If I were able to draw by hand, I probably would...but...well, let's put it this w...

Re: Sci-Fi Slang
Well, they've been using 'dreg' a lot. That's a perfectly serviceable alterna-curse, in my never-humble opinion. It mostly means 'crap'. But I could really use, well, a 'fuck' equivalent. Generally, using slang for fictional idea or object is a good touch, but using slang curses takes all the bite o...

Re: WRITING: What to call sci-fi money
Well, money definitely won't be based in gold in the Kaniraverse. It'll probably be based on energy, actually...I haven't quite worked out what the kind of energy used by spaceship is yet, but if one were to think of dilithium crystals from Star Trek as the base unit, and money represents the amount...

Re: COMIC: The Adventures of Kanira Baxter
Oh, incidentally...regarding the title... I thought long and hard about that one, believe it or not. Originally, the story was much more tongue-in-cheek than it is now, and I'd intended to give it a really long and messed up name like a bad 50s movie or 80s video game. We're talkin' "The Leather God...
