First of all, welcome!!! Secondly, wow... I don't think I could imagine growing up with an anti-gun parent. While I can see the reason why a parent would be anti-gun, I'd rather teach the child how to handle the gun safely. That's what my mom did... she made sure we knew and respected the difference...

I think you were probably lucky you didn't have to worry about proms. They tend to be way over-rated (and overpriced) and in ten years, no one cares who was there. Insofar as the dancing, that could be fun... I've lost count of how many guys I've taught how to dance, so you wouldn't be the first one.

The caricatures are about right... except for the country bumpkin. I have yet to see someone like that in Hooters. You might want to substitute an egotistical frat boy for the bumpkin. Oh, and one other thing, it's waitress, not waiter.

Specter, impressive shooting with a paintball gun. Personally, I don't like them much... I'd rather go out back and use the .22 on soda cans. We had acorns too, but I preferred crabapples over acorns because crabapples splatter against the sides of houses or trees. Even if you miss the person the splatter is still pretty intimidating, and the sticky spray is not without a little satisfaction. The problem here is we don't have crabapples....

Yep they are!! My mom used to do competition pistol shooting and usually beat most of the guys. I'm not as good as her, but she's had more years of practice. But sometimes women shooters stay away from ranges because of the guys. I've been to a couple ranges where the men treat women like ditzes and...
