Ever hear that old tale that you can't die in a dream, or if you do, you'll die in real life? T'aint necessarily so. One really vivid dream that has stuck with me all these years, soon after hearing a first aid lecture about how you should never, ever move anyone with a back injury, I dreamed I had ...

He already unloaded a bunch of junk on Quentyn once before, no doubt he'll try again, but this time Quentyn's sober. Max might find it harder this time. Max is quite a salesman -- but apparantly an honest one. After Quentyn took careful inventory of what he bought in his drunken spending spree, he ...

I claim no responsibility for resulting cases of epilepsy.
That is marvelous.

Weird Al is always a hoot; the flash animation video to go with it makes it even better.

... I believe when a person says they ain't gunna make it, then they won't make it. Well, Quentyn has a track record. When facing the rat king, he said "Did you ever know that you were going to die? I knew it. I knew that I was going to die." http://npc.comicgenesis.com/d/20050311.html http://npc.c...

Actually, "Timmy Nimnul" was a spoof of Jimmy Kimmel.... the jackass formerly of "the man show" Oh. Him. <gag, retch> I never watched "the mentally defective adolescent show"; the ads for it were quite more than enough, thankyouveryverymuch. I had more than I could stand of Nimnul from "Win Ben Ste...

Personally, I don't watch Fox News much. I don't watch any of the news programs because I don't like the TV format. I read Fox as much as I read any outlet because I can fact check them with Google just as easily. Their accuracy is no less than other media in my experience and in some aspects they'...

(Wondering what Quentyn would think at first sight of a steam-powered tocomotive.) I am guessing he would think it would be some sort of steam breathing beastie. Nah, I don't think so. Quentyn's folks are very familiar with machines. Theirs just run on lux, or water power. It would be more along th...

Yeah... I've wanted one of those ever since I heard about them.

My (admittedly limited) understanding of luxcraft makes me think that there's not going to be any such thing in this world, though. It's not magic.

If any society on Earth had a globe in 1492, history would have been rather...much more interesting from that point. Sad thing is that Aristotle (I think) composed a globe, not very accurate, but a globe nonetheless, and no one seemed to be interested in it. This is a misunderstanding -- popular fo...

Now, that's just silly, Strangewulf. Quentyn is now the one contracted to retrieve the artifacts. ... and he's the only one who can die to shut it off forever. Exactly. Once he takes up the quest, the weasels' insidious plot is off the rails. (Assuming taking the land is the plan.) They can't take ...

This a man who descended into the depths of Hell itself, and conquered it, taking back with Him the keys of Death and Hell and setting the lost souls free. Which reminds me of the scene in Niven & Pournelle's "Inferno" (possibly a scene from Dante's original, which I haven't read) where the protago...

The theory that seems most plausible to me (sorry, I don't remember whose it is originally) is that the target isn't Quentyn or the village, it's the village's representative to the council. This would be like handing Arizona to Mexico to get John McCain out of congress. Interesting... Has the vill...

And what happens when the Adjudicators, the Artifactors, the lawyers, all tell Quentyn, forget it, it doesn't change anything? Ah, but they can't, as near as I can see. Quentyn has the only vote on that. The terms of the contract specifically allow Quenyn of Ridgedale's sucessor to fulfill its term...

Perhaps, but think of it from Quentyn's point of view. He isn't thinking, "How can I succeed in this mission?" He's thinking, "How can I save Freeman Downs?" Now that he knows that the next Questor will not have the same problem, that it ends with him, he will gladly sacrifice his life. He'll go on...
