I am facinated with musical instruments and may make some in the future. I like Fen's instrument (looks like a "lyre harp") so here is some research: Spock's Vulcan harp was the closest thing in appearance http://members.aol.com/IDICPage2/GemKirk104.html but these instruments are more likely similar...

Magic mushrooms and time travel (May 8)

Doing a bit of research: a rath (circle) generaly refered to sacred places that were designed as circles and often had a pot of creamated remainsin the circle. They were found on "leylines" where magnetic anomalies often occured. Stone circles and Stonehenge are often considered the same as the rath...

expanding on the sail idea:
Objects in a flow produce eddies and convert the energy of the flow into other forms of energy. An odd shape is going to produce more of those random eddies and convert more energy (in this case slow the lux flow and have more "magic" from the lux)

Ann Vole, you are thinking too much. Yes that is a fault of mine! I am especialy interested in non-human use of abstract symbolism like language and numbers and dates so I have looked at early human systems to try to figure out how they developed things and try to imagine how non-humans (animals, s...

Actually, their culture is effectively an emergent one from a primarily human-dominated culture, so their numeric system is base 10. Hmm, the most common use for numbers would likely be chapter and verse numberings in the sacred texts. Other determors of base or psudo -base (english has a unique na...

Now that Quentyn has met up with Kestrel I figure they need to get in contact with the third person that night (Fennel the Bard I believe he was) and tell him about the sword (with or without having the sword) and ask what he can remember of that night (possible clue: he scored high in harmonization...

lower-tech rune reader here: http://npc.keenspace.com/d/20030504.html Looks like the output of a digital device (**BLEEP**) http://npc.keenspace.com/d/20030907.html so I am surprised no one mentioned the posiblility of a human digital time device from that bunch of junk getting involved in the drunk...

I discovered fractals back about 1985. They're easy to get lost in, as I soon discovered. Anyone who ever said that an image cannot be art if it was generated using a mathematical algorithm and a computer has never seen fractals. I was fractal image programming on MC-10, TRS-80, and Vic 20 from the...

At first I was speculating that the round room was for protection of the surounding building and people or to keep the sword in one place if it tried to wonder stand and all. Now I think it might be a 360 degree projection screen which is why it is white and can be viewed from up top and the stairs ...

How do you take the poll, I never polled on Keenspace and can't find an obvious button. **edit** once I posted, it was obvious (likely needed to be logged in) and voted 2-3 hours ( 8 / 3 < 3) I think I spent about 8 hours on RHJunior's 3 comics but not sure how long on each one because I was being p...

Back on topic, I think Quentyn's dad will make sure the common folks know theres a real questor out there and I would not put it past him to set up some sort of publicity stunt. Back to off topic I love old jazz and folky music with no words or clasical and Muzzak if I can't get the first two. It le...

Raconan lux-craft is a fun part of this comic and speculation on how it works (or how RHJunior has designed it) is very enjoyable to me. Miracles in modern-day Earth among humans is completely unrelated but here is my 2 coppers: I think the difference between science and the supernatural is order: I...

I don't agree with Ralph's politics. I don't agree with anyone's politics but I don't let it bother me. I have too many Laissez Faire (governement keeps its grubby "hands off") ideas for the left wings and too many socialist ideals for the right wings and I am definatly against that wishy-washy "mi...

Racconans don't "mind meld." Yes, and my comic is not anything like TOTQ either. I was just compairing Yuoofox's idea to my own. but animals are animals, sapients are sapients. Mother Nature worship, eg "we are all brothers with the forest creatures" stuff, doesn't sell well with people who can act...
