How about you go with the most cliched gag ever, and have Zorro or Ester suddenly wake up, and EVERYTHING WAS A DREAM! Then, whoever woke up starts his/her life again, which is wildly different (maybe) from the dream(s). Cue plot. I was going to suggest a Dallas-esque waking up in the shower routin...
