Well other than the bandages he looks pretty wide-eyed right about now.

During an actual mission he's gonna look pretty grim, 'cept for those times he's blowing stuff up :).

It's not necessary that the "rabble in the street" are convinced Quentyn's a hero, although the paper will help in that area. The social circles that the miller's family run in will know, as will the wizards, the artificers and a bunch of other "movers and shakers". Quentyn is now firmly in business...

I don't think anything is going to go to Quentyn's head. 1) He *knows* he almost died, and that drove him literally to tears. 2) He knows he nearly drove his parents insane with grief, and that would also seriously bother him. His relationship with both his parents is excellent - remember, they thou...

The MAIN thing we've learned is that the whole city seems to know pretty much what went on down there. The wizards have probably done a complete "forensic deconstruction" by now. They also know how big the threat was. They've had lots of time to sort it all out, probably cleaned out the lab with a "...

Heh. This is the first poor Quentyn has seen of that goofy thing :). Heck of an intro :o. Then again, spotting when an animal has harm on it's mind usually isn't too hard. Quentyn grew up on a farm and should have a good grounding in the subject. (Real world side note: you know the easiest way to te...

"All the northen and eastern agressors had to march through that valley. It was full of nice fields, but any army will pillage and ruin that kind of land... and it's people. Considering the amount of warfare in that time... Valley of Death was a very apt name for it." Quite true. And there was a hil...

"a Nip and Tuck/Kit and Kay Boodle cross over" :o Yeah, THAT would be good for a laugh. Briefly. Mainly a lotta screaming and running. And passing out. Gene Catlow managed a Jack crossover quite well. You basically let Jack handle the "underworld afterlife department". It would NOT actually be impos...

You know, the two most "spiritually aware" series that I've seen on the web are also the two best: TOTQ and "Jack", which is...NOT the same lighthearted tone, although it has it's moments. Jack is at: http://www.pholph.com It's broken up into short stories, with some characters returning (esp. Jack,...

Yeah, that last "wasted" is just a tad hard to read, at least in the online version. I was going to make an "edit note" on this but it should be OK on paper once Ralph comes out with the book. And he damned well better or he's just crazy :). In fact, with just a couple more wrap-up days on this stor...

The "slavery" bit by Paul looks worse than it is; in most cases a more correct modern translation would be "employee" for all practical purposes. It was a different time, "employment" as we know it today didn't exist but often "voluntary slavery" amounted to something pretty close. No argument re: D...

Yup. Between that and the "mage SWAT team" rumbling in behind him, he'll make it. Wouldn't be surprised if the next scene shows him all bandaged up in bed. Rescue will take longer if Squidge boogies out completely, but probably not by that much. Quentin didn't have to go too far to find this place, ...

I've seen desserts mildew. Leave a slice of pie in the fridge too long... Oh, wait, you meant DESERT? :) One, the climate has shifted some since then. Two, much of Israel is mountainous and snows in the winter. Bethlehem is one such, in fact the part about sheep in the field is a sure sign Jesus was...

Most of these "health and safety codes" were VERY good things then and aren't a half-bad guide now. They constitute one of the best proofs that there's *some* sort of higher guide behind the bible. Note that in almost all cases, violating these wasn't a "sin against God" and was punished by what we'...

RALPH! (or "first character crossover between GH/TOTQ?

Ralph, are you messin' with our heads here?

Compare the Goblin Hollow of 3/6/05:

http://utlt.keenspace.com/d/20050306.html

to TOTQ of 3/7/05, last panel:

http://npc.keenspace.com/d/20050307.html

When it starts babbling snippets of spam at poor Quentyn, he'll REALLY scream!

One other thought: in the scenario I pictured, technological levels on earth must have collapsed sometime after the "genetic engineering period", but that doesn't mean a high-tech population of one or more races didn't make it to space first. And that means Quentin in a spacesuit one day, raygun in ...
