Panel 2's background, referring to Germany's Days o Evil, is especially nicely done. I think that maybe your creativity has been waiting for the day you'd decide to start putting in more disciplined backgrounds. Also, with more detailed backgrounds, you can include many more sick and twisted detail...

According to this list of webcomic related sites ranked by Google in order of importance Ghastly's Ghastly Comic is ranked 5/10 while Jack Chick's site is ranked 6/10.
