If it's fluff, why does he go through the trouble of explaining why Kell doesn't eat Kevin? True, if he never brought people's attention to it, people would have just assumed it was just a part of the immutable premise. But instead, it's just inviting people to question it. The more he defines of h...

Maybe he should have thought about it so it wouldn't be so fucking creepy and disturbing. We're not asking for a fully fleshed-out world here. It just doesn't make any sense and comes off as being fucked up.

They tend to label mangaish comics that aren't made in Japan a "manga influenced". I guess that relieves some stress from people who just like the style. Still it's kind of annoying when the story happens in Tokyo but all architectire and enviroment (not to mention characters) look perfectly Americ...

Back in high school there was one kid who combined the Jhonen style with Akira Toriyama. It was a recipe for derivative suck if I ever saw one. http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y289/rlpeterson/imagemacro/emot-gonk.gif It also didn't help that he wasn't very good at illustrating to begin with. Luckil...

That's the problem, though. He's really inconsistent. He's trying to mix mundane suburbia and trite, family-friendly newspaper comic fare with a cruel, inhuman universe of predation and Darwinist social structures. Then again, Pluggers can be just as disturbing given the right mindset. But I don't t...

Re: Good places to find great manga?

I know about onlinecomics.net and some other ones... anyone know of places to find online manga that are not as well known? (sorry if this thread already exists, but I couldn't find a recent one) ^_^;; How about Japan? Because it's not fucking manga unless it's made in Japan. Anything else is just ...

http://guardsman.comicgenesis.com/ Your search is over...well not really, but that is my "manga". I use it as a skill building project, and as you can see I am far better at drawing than when I started a good eight months ago. Also http://viistar.comicgenesis.com/ is an awesome manga by ViiStar, pe...

Wow, I didn't even know about that. That is really disturbing. Why would you apply human social norms to such a world? Or why would you present such a universe, in media form, to be enjoyed and read by a normal society, but make no effort to point out how fucked up that is? it's a rather odd though...

So, Duffies, have you made any changes or added dialogue to that piece you posted earlier? I'd like to see what you've done with it. For your eyes only I've scanned and lettered what I've done so far. But there ain't gonna be any ending because I got that far and then returned the whole thing to th...

Some might argue that seeing mistakes is a good thing, and it leads you to improve and all that, but it's not fun anymore. If I'm not drawing what I love anymore, what's the bloody point, ya know? Sometimes I think my rush for improvement is only to satisfy a select few, and I'm starting to think i...
