I'd hate to see the scene around here change for the worse b/c of some webcomic bigshots finding a new way to make money. I have always said, and I still believe, that there are more great comics on Keenspace (or whatever you guys are calling it now) than at any other domain -- and there always wil...

Two important decisions have been made since that blog post. 1. There will not be any free service. I can't overpromise and underdeliver (my goal is the opposite) -- and opening up the server to everybody would potentially lead to disaster. Also, the things that make WCN unique (the ability to sell ...

Kisai: My current contract with the admin person I have working on WCN is for a small percentage of WCN revenues. It wouldn't make any business sense to depend on somebody so important to the success of the venture without giving them a monetary reward. It's not because I'm a good guy so much as it ...

Okay, one last thought on the "Keenspace vs. WebcomicsNation" thing. Keenspace and WCN are not direct competition for one another. For one thing, WCN requires account holders to pay for their accounts, and allows for any domain name (http://www.yourdomainname.com) at the two higher levels of service...

What part of my post was insulting? The part where I said that Keenspace has more great comics on it than any other server, or the part where I praised the amazing people who perform the role of community leadership? Or maybe you didn't read all the posts before responding, and didn't even read the ...

I really should be insulted by that. No, you shouldn't. I said if I implemented a free server those things would be true. No implication was intended about existing free servers. For one thing, I'm not nearly as cuddly and sociable as Gav & Chris, so I doubt I'd be able to attract the amazing group...

I'm working like the dickens to get it launched. I promise I'll hype like crazy when I do. I can't make any solid announcement about a launch date yet. I've tried doing that, and have missed it each time. But soon, soon.

The Downward Trend: The traffic flow itself could be remaining relatively the same, the thing is, their rank could be getting knocked down due to any number of reasons. For example, new peeps just getting the internet and unaware of the good websites. This doesnt necessarily indicate a drop in read...

On further research, apparantly there does seem to be evidence of a downward trend for many popular webcomics:

I definitely didn't mean to imply it was free! Keenspace-like in that its open to the public to post comics when and wherever they want. Not free, though, unfortunately. If I launched a free service, it would have to be buggy, slow, and poorly implemented. Or else I couldn't afford to run it. That's...

We'll be launching our own Keenspace-like service soon. Not as soon as I originally thought -- but, still, soon. I hope to see many of you there! I'm very interested to know more about this. Will there be profit sharing with the artists? Will it have the same site design flexibility that Keenspace ...

Someone on this thread (Chris maybe -- it's a long thread) mentioned that webcomics traffic generally may have slowed over the past couple of months. I have to say I'm not seeing it. MT, a subscription-based site, will never be as popular as Keenspot, which is all free. I don't think I'd get any arg...

I do NOT advocate what I am about to suggest. It's just put there as an example of how to "turn the tables," if somebody with an evil mind wanted to do it. Write a program or even a webpage that will download their software from their website over and over and over and over and over and over again. ...
