More Laffs

The couch strips were sort of stop-gaps for the weekend (I hadn't quite recovered from the weekend before, which I was also away for), but they worked well enough that I may go back to them occasionally when I need a quick gag comic to fill the space.

Leaping Lizards!

I got the apartment right, but who would want to live in that dank ol' place when they could be seeing the country by going to the worse parts of each town they visit and playing loud music? No one I know.

Callous Photographer/Dewey

I've already got the ending to the story drawn, and the Callous Photographer does not make an appearance (alas!), he may show up later, though, so keep an eye out for patterned shirts.

As for Dewey . . . You'll have to wait and see.

Heh heh

 See that devil horn-guy? That's me. My characters are puppets I torture for my own amusement. MU HA HA! Dance, monkeys, Dance!

(seriously, though, it gratifies me that you're attached to Dewey, it means I'm doing something right when folks don't just say, "Eh, let 'im die.")

Apologies are nothing

I'll finish the story up soon. I don't know what prompted this break, but I'm ready to get backto work.

I have checked out all of Modern Tales offerings and have been quite pleased. I agree that Cuentos de la Frontera looks like it's going to be really cool. Bitten Apple, and Vicious Souvenirs (more for the sharp writing and excellent Flash implementation than the art) are the other standouts for me. ...

So . . . when's Odd Jobs getting posted to Modern Tales? I wanna re-read the backstory, dangit! I understand that the server mess slowed things up a bit, but there's a dearth of long-term content there right now, so Odd Jobs needs to tip the scales for 'comics with more than one or two entries'. Ove...

Thanks, Mel! I think I might e-mail other folks who had posted here a couple times with the news that the comic will be updating regularly. You folks were a lot of fun 'back in the day.' Maybe a mailing list . . .

Congrats, Tim. I was wondering if you had seen the moderntales post on eCartoonists, because it seemed like exactly what you were looking for! I'm a little sad to see that I won't be able to read Odd Jobs back-strips at my leisure, but I'll be happy to shell out the measly sum needed to read such a ...

Humor vs. Story: Opinions. I've found that at least two strips I formerly enjoyed a whole lot (PvP and Sluggy Freelance) have turned into little more than jokes based on their characters personalities. I find this fairly unsatisfying as the humor comes from a vacuum. I sort of want to do a longer st...

A freeform jam-thing sounds good, what would be the frequency and duration? Once a week each for five or six weeks? Should there be a 'gimmick'? Like we're both working from opposite ends of the story or something? Scanner should be here this week, so if you toss me something I'll get on it right aw...

Well, a scanner may be in the future for me, and I've got a couple Too Fat strips already completed, waiting for the scan and color treatment. I think a jam thing could definitely be in the cards! Speaking of which, I'm glad someone's getting use out of those business cards. What do you have in mind...

Russ, the new strip looks slick. I'm glad you've found your way back to multi-panel stories, I was starting to miss them. Also, the scenery (moonery?) and the rocket are just excellent looking. Simple, but beautiful. ::JOY::

I'd have to go to Atlanta to see it
Austin was good for those arty movies. Athens, alas, doesn't seem to have a first run art house. The University is just getting Memento (no I haven't seen it, stop beating me!)

As for Transmetropolitan; Pick up the first Trade (collecting the first three issues, it's like nine bucks) and see if you like that. Having seen it mentioned a few times that vulgarity and cursing were kind of no-no's I wouldn't recommend Transmet. It's dirty, caustic fun for the rest of us.
I wi...
