So far, mine is that some people think one of my characters is based on an idiotic reality TV celebrity, even though I came up with the character way before the show was ever created.

Incredibly true. I've just recently come to the point where I am mature enough to cut out upcoming strips that I spent hours on because I finally decided they weren't integral to what's going on, despite the fact that I was so proud of how they came out. Each time turned out to be a great decision.

Well, I wouldn't say "don't listen to anyone." People can really be full of crap about their own work, and using yourself and only yourself as a guide is an easy route to self-indulgence.
