My side writing gig...

Whoo! So, as I mentioned on the front page, I'm now the official, *paid* writer of Chuck Whelon's "Pewfell Porfingles" at Modern Tales. He liked my style, and I liked his, so hopefully with the combination of great art and hopefully adaquate writing we can make Pewfell a force to behold. Metaphorica...

Sorry about the scanty updates...

Um. That's really all I had to say. Work's been hectic lately, as we approach the profitable Chistmas season. I have most of next week off, so I'll hopefully be getting caught up then. Saturday's and Monday's ASR strips may be going up a little late, but hopefully I'll be back to normal by Wednesday.

Um, about the only SF story Iv'e read from this year is Orson Scott Card's "Shadow Puppets", but it's really good. Despite the fact that it's like the fifth sequel to Ender's Game, he's found a really, really interesting way of keeping the concept fresh--veering off to deal with other characters in ...

"Adventurestrips.com"

So, who's been reading that "Modern Tales" spinoff, Adventurestrips.com? I find myself checking it out once a day, but mostly just for the shiny art. I have to say I've been the eensiest bit disappointed. There's nothing there as great as "Vicious Souvenirs" or "Makeshift Miracle" or "Cuentos de la ...

Has my account been deleted?

Hi, maybe I'm just being paranoid here, but I recently came into the domain http://freaku.keenspace.com . Because I already do two other strips, it's been sitting slightly idle, though I have uploaded a strip and done stuff with the home page. Today I noticed that it's been a month since I last uplo...

Wow. Thank you, Opal. I've actually heard a fair amount back from people since I posted this missive, though, obviously, not so much in this forum. I've quickly realized that, the more positive feedback I hear--especially from people who don't already have a stake in webcomics, like yourself--the mo...

You so crazy! No, seriously. Get help.

Teague's been an enormous help...thanks to him I can really get a kickass backlog going, and make sure this next stroyline is really visually spectacular.

ADVENTURESTRIPS.com

Just out of curiosity, what do you guys think of the new Modern Tales spinoff, Adventurestrips.com? I like the art but I've been slightly disappointed in the stories so far (all one strips' worth of them.) The coolest-looking one is "Gravedigger", and there are some other neat ideas, but not much to...

Hey Teague, what's the latest on new strips? I just want to keep my readers apprised of when they might see new ones.

Actually, technically they ARE giving them away for free.

It is nice to see that nice art, though. I mean, that's the kind of thing that makes me go, "Wow, what I could do if I had an artist like that working with me!!!"

For me, it's not so much "gag a day" as the idea that every strip should encapsulate some idea, or end with a nice "punch". (Not neccessarily punchLINE, but some lead-in to next week, or good quip, or nice image, or something.) You'll note I try to employ this with ASR. It's hard, but not THAT hard....

ADVENTURESTRIPS.com

Anyone seen the new spinoff of Modern Tales? (http://www.adventurestrips.com , for those of you who didn't know.) It's kind of a mix of exciting and disappointing, for me. I love old, pulpy serial adventure strips, and the art is mostly excellent, but the execution of some of them has been...a littl...

Guest Artist?

OK, I know we've had calls for guest artists before here, and it's usually pretty lame, but this has precedent. My own strip, Amazon Space Rangers ( http://amazons.keenspace.com ) is currently being drawn by Teague Tysseling, of The Adventures of Captain Mooki ( http://cmooki.keenspace.com ). I'm ju...

Here's the latest inside scoop on the Amazons. You won't see this on E! Tonight, oh no! Mostly because they don't care. But I like to jabber on about my upcoming plans, so: "Love Letter" is twelve strips long...and let's have another hand for Teague for doing that. He's great. I'll be paying him bac...

"Bandit"

"Bandit" is an idea I'm kicking around. Unlike my other strips, this would be more of a "graphic novel in strip form", without so much in the way of ongoing storylines or tons of characters. I don't want to say much more about it, except that it's set in the neighbourhood in which I live, it'll be v...

Freak U

This is a comic I'll be launching in a couple of months, or maybe sooner...depending on when the domain name comes through from KeenSpace. But I want to get the script nearly-complete beforehand, or at least VERY far into it...which is a pretty big undertaking, since it's going to be at LEAST 300 st...

Night Shift--opinions solicited here.

OK. Of the various projects I've got going right now, the one I'm easily least passionate about right now is Night Shift. And personally, I feel like it's starting to affect my output. And yet, I'm still getting people tell me how much they like it, including a guy who, just a day or two ago, told m...

***include*** tag not working....

This is odd. I have two "***include (pagename).html***" codes on my indextemplate. ONE of them is showing up (MESSAGE.html) but not the other one (SPOTLIGHT.html). That area is just blank. For now I've altered my indextemplate file to just plug in the code from the desired html, I'll try rewriting i...
