Fanart from "The Fantastical Bestiary!"

http://fightcastorevade.keenspace.com/images/mouse_rosen.gif Another Sashi, this time dressed in authentic-looking samurai armor! This is by Mike Rosen, who draws the strip The Fantastical Bestiary , a strip loaded with mythological creatures and obscure medieval references. And now that the 'Space...

Well, as Arthur C. Clarke wrote: "Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic."

That may or may not have any bearing here, but I like to throw out the occasional famous quote.

Zuh? Sure Keenspace is still down? I've been able to update the DoM successfully (though you wouldn't know it to look at it)... Well, although I can ftp in, so I suppose I could fix everything by hand, I will plead laziness. I can't log in to give the auto-updater a kick in the bum, so I'll just co...

Yet another episode in the hit program <i>Where's KeenSpace?</i> Anyway, here's Wednesday's strip, particularly for those of you who are up and reading comics, not only before I am at work and able to post the strip here (scott!), but before <i>I'm</i> up! http://www.erie.net/~mtrepal2/fcecomic/2003...

Re: Pencil work in progress

whitepony wrote:It still needs some more detail...then cleaned up...inked... and colored. I'm just letting those of you who want to see its progress, a chance to see it. :)
It's been said before, WP, but your work is amazing! I'm excited to see the finished piece!

See how you are? What are you doing up at 6:45, anyway?

At least the sites are up! Now, if they'd only give the auto-updater a good, swift kick!

*listens to the banter about paper size and "dpi"* Seems like you guys use a lot more than just a pencil, eraser and paper for these things [/naive] :) Which is why I'd say to Matt to make the "How I draw this" take priority over the guide to the middle kingdoms --- the guide requires more brainpow...

Holy cow! Thanks, Scott! Now if only Keenspace would cooperate and start up again, then all those new readers you may potentially be directing my way would have something besides those two strips to read! I've never ventured into the really busy forums, except to lurk, and then only rarely. I can ne...

Strip for 24 Dec

Well, nothing's changed with KeenSpace (except now they've managed to get the servers working enough to put up a reason for the downtime), so here's Friday's strip:

Since the 'Space has blarged today, those of you who don't have the hi-rez site bookmarked (such as myself; Scott had to point me towards the URL) can go here: http://www.hirezfox.com/21cf/index.html to see what everyone is talking about. Knowing the forum regulars here, though, you've all no doubt ...

More paper is better. Honest. If you can go to 11 inches long, do it. I mean, look at all the really cool artwork you see on the web. How do they get so darn good?!? One thing is that while we're cramming 3-4 panels into a 4 inch box, they've got the whole darn piece of paper to get the lines to fl...

Yay! Thanks! :D No problem! I just wish I'd been able to get it up before 8PM. I'll have to email Friday's strip to work, just in case this happens again. Poor Portia, she's been crying "Wolf!" er... "Deer!" (Though, somehow, I don't think that exactly strikes terror in the heart of Yerzle...) No. ...

Until fairly recently, I'd been using 8.5*11 paper divided on the long axis into four rows. Then I got ahold of a 11*14 pad, and started using it, divided on the long axis into four rows. Couldn't scan the whole thing in one go, but I could cut & paste. However, my actual scanner is is about 8.5*11...

Missing comic for 22 Dec

Ah, computer bliss! As you all have no doubt noticed, KeenSpace seems to have blarged today. So, I give you today's strip: http://www.erie.net/~mtrepal2/fcecomic/20030122.gif And I just realized that all these strips have been chopped off on the right side! And this one has the wrong date! Wh...

I'm aiming for a look similar to "Nukees" or "Ozy and Millie;" do these strips have the problems you're talking about? Those two are both very well inked. :) Well, I gotta aim high, right? One thing I'm experimenting with myself is the use of heavy ink lines, and I'm pretty happy with how it...

Don't bring yourself down, man! You're GOOD and getting better! Personally, I don't think "getting fast" matters... you need to have a pace you're most comfortable at, so to speak, and damn those who dissent ;) I wish I had 1/8 the talent you have for drawing strips. Or 1/8 the paitence to learn to...

No offense taken, Scott, but I hope I don't disappoint you too much. I use a variety of line widths, so I hope that will work to differentiate between foreground and background. I'm aiming for a look similar to "Nukees" or "Ozy and Millie;" do these strips have the problems you're talking about? You...

Small request: I mean no offence, but In the future, I would appreciate it if we could stick to internet conventions and slap a big old " SPOILER " in the subject line or at the top of a reply in such cases in the future? Thanks. :) D'OH! Sorry, Scott! I just shouldn't have said anything, actually,...

I know that many of the readers here aren't actually in Snowbelt areas, so this question doesn't mean much to them. South Africa, south-central Texas, and Southern California don't get much snow. Therefore, I'll take it upon myself to field this one, hunkered down along the Great Lakes as I am. It's...

You're welcome, Cap'n! Remember, you can never be a complete failure, since you can always serve as a negative example.

Unfortunately, this seems to be my turn....
