Re: Which is harder, drawing or writing?
I would find drawing more skill intensive - it's a more complex task and I believe it requires a greater investment of time and effort to develop skills in it. That said, the drawing itself is a fairly easy process. I fairly rarely get 'artists block' - sometimes a panel may push my level of skill, ...

Re: How do you script/plan your comics?
1. I have notes and several rough outlines of how the series as a whole should develop. 2. The story is broken down into issues of about 28 pages each and I write the script to each issue along with rough sketches of the panel layout before I start drawing. 3. As I work on individual pages I may twe...

Re: Searchable comics
In my case I have a story based comic, and it is meant to be read in order. It doesn't really need much in the way of additional navigation beyond the ability to find story arcs and pick up where you left off. I can see the benefit of more advanced search options for archival / glossary purposes, bu...

Re: What's your webcomics workflow? (Adobe wants to know)
I generally write, plan and illustrate my comic entirely on paper. After I scan the page into my computer, I use curves in photoshop to adjust white and black and paintbrush to clean stray marks. I use a layer mask trick to render white areas transparent for coloring and do lettering in Illustrator....

Re: Black & White Webcomics Still Viable?
For a webcomic, cost really isn't a consideration on deciding between black and white and color. Time can be a factor, but digital coloring makes that less of an issue. Generally, webcomics are done in black & white for stylistic reasons, which is perfectly viable. In my case, I chose too make Bookw...

Re: Webcomic Above You VI - DISCUSSION THREAD
OH MY GODDESS!!! A newbie has joined the webcomic above topic!!! If you're refering to me, I'm not technically a newbie. I'm an oldbie who has been inactive so long I can't get into my original forum account. :) In fact, I posted in the original Webcomic Above You thread (under Chascraw4d). Still, ...

Re: Webcomic Above You VI - Return of the Comics
First Impression - MixedMyth has several webcomics under her belt, and I was a big fan of Mixed Myth (the webcomic) when it was being published, so I had fairly high expectations going into the review and overall, I was not disappointed. The artwork is, on the whole, very good, and the writing is cl...

Bookwyrms Comic restarting
Hello, After an interminably long hiatus, Bookwyrms comic http://bookwyrms.comicgenesis.com/ is now updating again. Bookwyrms follows the adventures of two librarians at a school of magic and already has five complete issues in its archives. So, if you haven't visited before, or it's been a while, I...

Re: Do your characters look like blood relations?
It's something of a risk in the comic medium, where characters are highly simplified to start with. If the artist isn't paying attention it's very easily to 'simplify' the distinguishing characterisitics out of the picture.

Re: Digital vs. pen and paper -- a.k.a tools of the trade
I still prefer inking by hand, but I've been experimenting with using a tablet and other forms of digital inking. I find the line work with a tablet somewhat artificial, but have had some success using the pen tool in photoshop (which doesn't really require a tablet at all). The tablet does work ver...

Hello... not really new at all, but been ages since I've been active. Looks like they cleaned house and changed the siteadmin again.
I really should post more often than every other year...
