Re: Alternative to Sable Hair Inking Brush?

Dear Levi-chan,
You're very, very funny.
The question though was: "Can someone recommend a brand?" This is what this post was meant to be all about.
Still, I'm very glad to have been allowed to see how funny you are.

Re: Alternative to Sable Hair Inking Brush?

There are a lot of nice tools around, allowing all kind of great motivating techniques. Still, there is nothing like a Kolinsky Sable Hair Brush for inking comics. I got information from Winsor & Newton. They get the hair for their brushes from "left-over" from the fur-industry. So, as long as there...

Re: Perspective

David Chelsea's sucks. This book makes a big deal of small unimportant details and forgets to tell you convincingly about the stuff an illustrator really needs. Anyway it is unreadable if you haven't the mind of a mathematical-bookkeeper. For half the price buy instead one of the books by Ernest Nor...

There's been concern about this long before Peta.

Alternative to Sable Hair Inking Brush?

I think red kolinsky sable hair brushes are simply a marvel, one of the best tools the humans have ever produced. Still I'm very concerned how they get the hair off the sables, and anyway, even if they don't hunt and kill them, what can be the quality of the animals' live in captivity for this proce...

Yes, Jerseycajun! Yours is definitely the ultimate argument. You're totally right, hand-lettering is almost impossible to nicely correct. And one time only, after that you're better off cutting off the whole balloon and pasting on a new one. So, the possibility of correcting, editing, changing text,...

I totally agree with Nervous Spy when he writes: "Hand lettering is definitely preferable, but it takes a lof of skill and a lot of time and effort. And using fonts is definitely better than bad hand lettering." Not only is hand-lettering a highly specialized technique, it has become very difficult ...

You have to use a very very good brush. That's the secret. In comics tools, the brush is the item where you don't want to try to save money. The classic brush is one made with the best sable hair. They're called Kolinsky sable. They're made to do watercolours, but comic (and animation inker and pain...

Great, Rkolter! It worked! And it looks just fine and exactly like I hoped it would. Thanks a lot. Thanks too, as well, not only for helping, but for helping so quickly, too. This is great. Actually I thought it might be something like that. But I'm not fluent enough in those things to expand on my ...

Hi Rkolter, Thanks for your quick help. I thought so, too. So, I just exactly did what you suggested. But alas, it is not so much better: There is now on the empty place of the still-not-found Banner-Image the Alt-Message "Banner". Quite logical. But still no image. Why does it work smooth and nice ...

Very, very good. In the first panels, maybe a little bit too much close-ups, we would like to see the exterior of the car a little bit sooner. But I don't know how I would've done it. Without changing the lay-out. And I wouldn' want to change the lay-out because it is so great. The colouring ist jus...

Image-File not found by Daily-Pages [solved]

I've updated both my dailytemplate.html and indextemplate.html with the same lay-out, featuring a Banner-Image under the title of the comics. This works just fine with the Today's Page ( http://yka.comicgenesis.com/ ) but on the Every-other-days-Pages ( http://yka.comicgenesis.com/d/20071104.html ) ...

Banner Ad [solved]

I've posted and updated my comic http://yka.comicgenesis.com/ What I don't understand is this advertisement space at the top of the pages. On my pages it stays blank. Am I supposed to put the banner ad there myself? If yes, where do I find it? Or is it so, that everyone may put any banner ad of his ...

Thanks a lot, Dr. Neo Lao! It worked. Wonderful. Then of course, I tried to make it all better and to add a couple more pages, following this tutorial and then especially Step12:Add Your Comic and the steps after. Didn't work out ideally. If you have the time (and only if you have the time: I'll pro...

Can't even go to my Page [solved]

Hello Everybody, I'm new to Comicgenesis but still I have plenty experience working with computers and digital graphics. I don't think that I've made any major mistake or pushed the wrong button. I've just begun with ComicGenesis. But I can't access my first (and until now only) page simply surfing ...

David Chelsea Perspective

Sorry Steve Bryant, but Perspective for Comic Book Artists by David Chelsea is an awful book. You must be some kind of mathematical genius to have found this book enjoyable, or even understandable. For everybody else: Beware! This book will disgust you forever of perspective. Better try to find an o...

Phalanx is right. The Andrew Loomis' books are all fantastic and carry a lot of profound and truthful infornation about Figure Drawing, Perspective, Picture Composition and all. It is just not specifically about the sequential technique typical to comics. Or Inking or computer colouring. Still every...
