KinokoFry - Bizarre Awesomeness (Cute, too)
KinokoFry I occasionally drop by the Australian Comics Forum The Pulp Faction which is where I was directed to this amazing little gem. The only thing cooler than Rebecca Clements excellent, distinctive art and brilliantly personal "hand made" looking website is the hilariously bent nature of the n...

Re: Welcome Feedback on a Project
Yeah I'm agreein' about inking technique. I like the way you inked the bricks, it helps create an impression of 3d.But try a bolder line around the edges of your foreground characters and thinner lines in the background and the people will stand out more from the environment. Color choices help that...

Re: Critique on cover art
...an afterthought, shouldn't it be "his and hers?" or did you do that on purpose? Yeah, something about that bugged me too. Aside from that, it's an appealing design with very classic comic-cover elements ( the characters looming over the couple a totally effective vintage touch) that's beautifull...

Re: I’m thinking about removing my archives and starting ‘fresh’
Bold move, doc, I'm impressed. Tossing stuff can be hard to do. Stef over at Sarah Zero just totally trashed version one and started from jump street sometime back. All the old stuff is gone forever (sorta like Nathan deleting whole Dethklok albums) I thought I'd miss it but the new stuff is a gazil...

Re: multiple web comics
I have two. Which now seems a bit stoo-pid 'cause now I have 2 comix that don't update enough.
I did manage to stop myself from cranking up a third one, tho. ADDs a wunnerfull thing.

Re: Why are we doing this?
I do it for the fun of it, so it's nothing serious. At the same time though, I promised myself that some day, no matter how long it takes, my comic will get finished. Even if I only update once a year, it will be finished, damnit. I'm agreein' witcha. Actually I checked out your last few pages and ...

Re: The World's Oldest Cartoon
Yeah, seriously. You guys never heard of a fucking stamp? Even then, they wouldn't be so perfectly identical. There would be a spot here or smudge there. It looks to me like when they put the "Animation" together for the website they cut out each instance of the goat and put it over a single instan...

Re: Race in comics
Firstly: Awesome topic, Tentoumushi! My characters are all colored. Captain Beefheart used to say:"Everyone's colored or you wouldn't be able to see them" I grew up exposed to people from all races. My comics have several characters from various ethnicities. My heroine Vomisa is obviously exotically...

Re: Why are we doing this?
I've always liked making comics because it's fun to make characters have adventures and say crazy stuff. I like drawing and I like making my own fake worlds. But now I'm intimidated because it seems that everyone who reads webcomics wants everything to be super polished and have story-arcs.... and ...

Re: Switching Styles and Hiatuses
Firstly I must admit I'm pretty prejudiced against sprites in general. Can't help it. OK, while there's clearly room for growth, I think your original drawing style is waaaaay better than the sprite alternative of the recent pages. I want to point out in particular the facial expressions and eye mov...

Re: Paper size: What is ideal?
Some of you guys are prob'ly sick of hearing me say this but I break standard size comix pages (6x9'- I work doublesize so actual assembled raw art would measure an awesome antiquated 12x18" page) into 3/4 sections and draw & ink 'em separately on 9x12 bristolboard. That way I can scan them and asse...

Re: Digital vs. pen and paper -- a.k.a tools of the trade
Boy, I must have some crappy Wacom. Working in Photoshop the brushstrokes have this crazy wavy thing they do. S'okay cuz I like pencilling and inking on bristol board jus fine, thanks. I use Micron pens and Faber-Castill Pitt brush pens. The blacks aren't as rich as using traditional pens and brushe...

Re: Does my artstyle work for my subject matter?
I see you've gone with color on your latest page and I think it's a definite improvement. I like the subtle color palatte you've chosen, your banner looks good too. Overall I think your art looks pretty cool. Watch your perspective, tho, the building on the top left has a prob with the angle on the r...

It seems to cover every possible technique and application and it's
fun to use while challenging you to improve. The best resource I've found yet on perspective.

In some ways I don't even get the concept of defining a drawing's environment as the "background". It's an essential part of the art, and shouldn't be merely a chore or afterthought. Time consuming, yes, but essential to mood, aesthetics, and storytelling. And oftentimes I find it the most fun part ...

I am so not gonna read the text due to my short attention span for reading on the web, and no connection at all with your source material. What I really stopped by to say is your site kicks butt. The art is killer stuff, it puts the fear in me (LOL) ta think with "generally little care" this is your...
