Re: Random thought for the day

If you skip ahead to about 5:48 seconds, you will see Dr. Weird and hear a snare drum. At about 6:00, you will see a gray dog playing the snare. I hooked up my pc speakers for the first time in a year, and it took a long time to download on my shameful dialup connection, but I did really enjoy that.

Re: How's your life atm?

I had a really fantastic Thanksgiving. The best I've ever had, probably. And I didn't even spend it with my own family. Those were always the best ones for me. XD I had a good one too. I got some drawing done, had fun Thanksgiving day at my friends house, picked up my new bedroom furniture, got my ...

Re: Random thought for the day

Well, at least it's better than the tired and true fierce angry black man, or the other not so refreshing African American "character types" portrayed in usual modern media(TV, Movies, Commercials, etc.). Absolutely. Unfornately, black tv characters often are still clowns, and in the movies hoodlum...

Re: Random thought for the day

Wait, so is this supposed to be racial profiling, or just that everyone wants to be a black man? Er, uhm... Profile was a poor choice of word on my part, but "stereotype" didn't seem right either. Maybe "character type" is the expression I'm looking for. You know, if it's a breakfast cereal commerc...

Re: Random thought for the day

I've been noticing lately that advertising has been using a particular profile with more frequency than in the past:

Namely, a slender middle-aged man of African descent with very short hair.

Coincidence? I think not! Madison Avenue is such a parasite.

Re: Random thought for the day

The "Walt Disney of Japan" thing only holds up as far as high-budget animated + family/children films + huge distribution. Apart from that, I don't think Disney movies are comparable to Studio Ghibli movies. The Ghibli films are extremely straight and they always deal with pure emotions. There are ...

Re: Random thought for the day

I do agree with your basic point: animation has gotten softer. I would like to see much more hardcore, darker fare. Batman the Animated Series and the movie from that are good examples. The X-Man animated series was good too, but it didn't push as many boundaries. I don't think American Animation w...

Re: Random thought for the day

Every year Time magazine puts the "Person of the Year on the cover of a special issue. I think it's based on the number of stories they do on said person. They should do a Pose of the Year. The winner will be a stock exchange worker doing the FacePalm. I see this same pose in so many newspaper and n...

Re: How's your life atm?

Does this reveal any superpowers or which other types I may successfully do battle with? I don't know, but I've been told that having a strong 6th chakra gives you various Extra Sensory Perceptions. Having a strong 3rd chakra gives you temporal power. That said, I'm afraid the lot of us get easily ...

Re: How's your life atm?

I wasn't terribly happy with my results either. But according to that website, you can work with your chakras with mudras (poses for the hand) and mantras. I re-started a long-abandoned yoga practice a few weeks ago and feel better for it. Another two weeks I should be able to do a 60 second headsta...

Re: How's your life atm?

http://www.eclecticenergies.com/chakras/introduction.php This was posted on another forum I visit. On the website above is also a test which gives you an idea of how open or active your chakras are. I found the results seemed to corroborate my own subjective experience of self. Root: under-active (-...

Re: How's your life atm?

Heh-- When I woke up on my 18th birthday the first word out of my mouth was a curse at the realization. As my life has gotten gradually better birthdays have gotten gradually less painful. As that mafia songster Frank Sinatra once sang, "I wanna live... Until I die... I wanna laugh... Instead of cry...

Re: Random thought for the day

I think that's what upsets me. There are of course all sorts of reps and obviously a whole lot of good people there too. Not that I could ever agree with an entirely unregulated market and a complete removal of social safety nets, which I think is a misguided practice. Mainly because you'd see a de...

I think it brightens the workday for them, if they get a young and cute patient.

I'm sure every young nurse with average or better looks has been clumsily hit upon by ugly and uncouth old bastards that fancy themselves as "colorful".

Re: Random thought for the day

The whole wide world got Barackroll'd. :D I'm so happy, and not a day too soon! I went to lurk around in the webcomic forums that have giant chickenhawk crowds and they are bawwww'ing their eyes out. I guess it should count as a guilty pleasure of mine, because it's pretty darn petty and immature. ...

Re: Severed Ties ------->The current arc

Besides the characters and the well-paced narrative, the thing that keeps me hanging on to EOT is the question:

"What will cause Evan to break out of his denial?"
