Re: Picpak Dog - Yes, it still exists!

Greetings! I recently released my first published book, "The Picpak Dog Collection", on lulu.com. It's 96 pages, features 6 months' worth of strips, and also contains my Facebook-exclusive comics, rarely seen art, and unseen early sketches! Picpak Dog - Yes, it still exists!

Hi everyone, I've done a lot of much needed housecleaning since the last time I've posted here. I've moved to a .net, added an About page, updated the Cast section, tagged and categorized my comics, and added a Facebook page, Twitter, and even a formspring.me for those that are so inclined. There's ...

Re: Are my comics being corrupted?

Hello,

I used Siteadmin because FTP was down. I re-uploaded the comics and now they work. Thanks!

Are my comics being corrupted?

Hey guys, For the past two days, the comics I've been uploading have been getting split through the middle and distorted. When I double check them on my computer, however, they're perfectly fine. I have no idea what could be causing this error. Is something wrong with the server? Here's an example o...

Re: general or partial CG server outage? WANTED: server status

Just a quick question, but can someone please explain to me the point of the upload queue? I'm sure it has its reasons, but the fact that it's what's holding our sites back is what frustrates me. All those ***tags in your indextemplate need to be translated into the more complicated html. Everyone'...

Comics not updating?

For some reason, the comics on my site haven't been updating for the past two days, even though there are strips uploaded and ready to be put up. I've tried doing manual updates through Siteadmin, but to no avail. Has this been happening to other people or is it just a problem with my comic? If so, ...

I hope people are working on this. When the site told me there was no data I was worried some hacker may have deleted it all.

Welcome!

Welcome to the fantastic Picpak Dog forum! Wanna discuss the comic? Got any comments, suggestions, criticism? Did I misspell a word in panel 3 in comic 2146? If so, be sure to point it out here. Since I'm not gonna treat you like babies, I'm just gonna lay down the basic rules here: No spam. Unless ...

I didn't see anything wrong with your post; I've bumped threads on this forum with even less to say with no problems. Don't worry about it.

Re: Did I just subliminally plagiarize or what?

You should try looking for inspiration in other places than your favourite comics. For what it's worth, I do run a Calvin and Hobbes website. However, the first strip I posted in this thread felt familiar to me, but for this one I had no recollection of it at all. And it's a lot more similar. It's ...

I colour the strip on the computer. Other than that, almost everything is hand-drawn. I tried doing it digital for a while but it looked terrible.

Re: Trying out computer lettering again...

Hand lettering is sort of inherently superior for hand drawn comics. I think you should continue to do it. (Your comic is charming, by the way.) I don't think "hand drawn" is the key word there: I think stiffer, more realistically drawn comics benefit from computer lettering while bouncier, more ca...

That is my final verdict. It looks out of place with your loose style. If anything, make a font based on your own handwriting rather than a comic lettering font, if you have to type it out.
Now there's a novel idea. How would one go about doing that?
