(Veering increasingly off topic here...) Considering the rate at which Hollywood is getting stupider, can a live-action remake of Toy Story be far away? ;) I'm just waiting for what they'll be trying when I hit retirement age. 20 years from now should be just about right for the big-budget, live-ac...

"How DARE you say that I should learn METRIC, the SYSTEM OF SATAN!" That is exactly what Metric's reputation was for its first hundred years. The Metric system is the only survivor of the decimal mania of the French Revolution -- the only thing left of the ten-day weeks, ten-hour days, hundred-minu...

Well, there's this piece on the first WaveAid CD (don't have it accessible right now, so I can't tell by who or transcribe the lyrics) -- "Calling All Angels" a theme for Farrago All I remember of the lyrics is "Calling all angels" is the first line of each stanza and "We are fallen..." is the first...

Since this topic seems to have gone off on an Objectivist tangent:

Later in her life, Rand turned her ideas into a cult, with herself as the totally-infallible cult leader.

A Third-order Dominican (laywoman) once told me the idea that "The doors to Hell are always wide open; anyone in Hell can walk out into Heaven anytime they want. They just never want to." The idea was that the damned are so wrapped up in themselves and have made themselves so twisted that bad as Hel...
