Re: Cracked life lessons

Before you insult someone, walk a mile in their shoes... That way, when you insult them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.

World of Words (Oh dear, I'm at it again)

Well, the Miasma RPG will probably never get finished, for those who remember it. But wait, there's more! While I was pulling guard yesterday I had an idea for an entirely different RPG. Though based on a kind of old idea (fiction coming to life), I don't think it's been put in RPG format before, or...

Re: Strangest RPG's you've ever seen...

I'm actually running a Spirit of the Century game right now, though it's set in a Rifts-ey WW2 rather than pure pulp WW1. So far my players have faced a platoon of zombies, a dragon-riding Russian baroness, and an immortal Nazi teddy bear--and they almost caught Captain Jack Sparrow. Not to mention ...

Looks like somebody's got a bad case of TAMCS, eh Joel? :shifty:

On a side note, why is Dustin barefoot? Does Joel do the whole 'no shoes on the carpet' thing?

Re: World of Lovecraft?

Some would argue that they are one and the same. (haha, take that, defenseless and uneducated twelve-year-olds!) But yeah, I see the salient points. The atmosphere--which is the most important part of a horror game--would be pretty well ruined by an online setting. That does set off a quick string o...

Re: World of Lovecraft?

Oh yeah, I was thinking that in the event that a cult managed to summon an Elder God, since it would be designed to be such a rare thing anyway, it could be controlled by a GM rather than by straight AI. That would make each major intrusion into a unique event, and would alleviate "moronic mega-boss...

World of Lovecraft?

This is an idea that I've been kicking around in my head for a few days. It started when I wondered whether there was an RP system designed to allow you to play as a "cosmic horror." And I don't mean a simple half-breed, deep one, or Chaos Space Marine (hey, they're pretty close to the Lovecraft 've...

Re: Today's comic

Exclamation: The Hunters are revealed!
Puzzled Inquiry: And they're... regular people in a dingy apartment?
Hypothesis: Surely there is more to this than meets the eye.

Qualification: I live. Hello, etc.

Re: The list of 'Don't mess wit 'em'

I would throw in Roland the Gunslinger, from Stephen King's Gunslinger series. I only read the first four, so I don't know how it ends, but the guy takes on demons, wizards, robots and a suicidal monorail with two six-shooters and a ton of grit. It's not as ridiculous as it sounds, I promise.

Re: Today's comic

I would say that they're LARPing as a means of drawing the Hunters from the game world into the real world (so, they really are setting a trap), but somehow that seems too pat.

LARPing to hunt boogeymen seems too pat. Yes, Alina, you've suspended my disbelief that much.

Jaded much? Also, from a conversation involving a rather twisted string of logic with a friend of mine. "Okay. So, ice cream has no bones. Sharks have no bones. Therefore, sharks are made of ice cream. My brother is allergic to sharks, and you are lactose intolerant. Ergo, you are my brother." --Me....

Aw, man... I wish my characters talked to me during moral dilemmas. Or just dilemmas in general. Actually, just in general. That would be awesome.

Yeah, I chuckled as well. Very creative :)

It says a lot that I had to Wiki the ruleset for Apples to Apples in order to get that joke, but it was still pretty funny.

Also, in a general sense, I like the increasing tendency in the comic towards the use of *facepalms.*

Mmm... cheap cheese. Cheese whiz, canned cheese (of the sharp cheddar variety), that powdered stuff that comes with instant Mac & Cheese... Yummie. I'll bet you there's a cookbook out there somewhere for making gourmet meals entirely out of fake ingredients for less than a dollar. Anyway, back on to...
