hero - AKA Champions

I've almost exclusively played Hero and D & D for the last 15 years. Hero is nice because it can easily be adapted to virtually any genre or power level. It started out as a superhero system but here's just a smattering of the games I've run or played in: Star Trek-esque game (using Starfleet Battle...

quotes?

"Gogira-finch, standing eighty feet tall and rumbling an echoing bird call like no finch you've heard before, belches forth a stream of bird seed at your party. Save vs. breath weapon." - A DM I know named Paul "Here's the problem." - my usual response to anything my party does when I am DMing "We h...

burbs

I live in South Jersey, which is effectively the suburbs of Philadelphia. We usually have a pretty good view of Center City. And if a giant monster ever attacks the home of the cheesesteak (monsters have good taste in food, too) we can all kick back and watch the carnage from our back yards. The bur...

Cloverfield

Presumably a few folks here have seen Transformers (saw it last night, BTW - surprisingly good. Kudos.) Anyway, the buzz is on the JJ Abrams (Lost) produced movie coming out on 1-18-08. Does not have a title yet, just the code name Cloverfield. The concept is pretty clever... a giant monster trashes...

The idea of working Doc Ock arms is simultaneously awesome and scary. Haha. I take it that's what's in your Av there? Yeah, I was Doc Ock for Halloween 2 years ago. The arms were huge, but SO worth it. That reminds me... I gotta think of something good for Halloween this year. Maybe an updated Capt...

I built a replica of Captain Cold's cold gun, although I'm still developing a way to make it work.

Same with Doc Ock's arms... although the Japanese have recently made developments in using the brain to control rudimentary electronics. I gotta get me some of that.

I went back and read the entire Weregeek comic. Point: http://weregeek.comicgenesis.com/d/20070425.html This takes place during their D & D game, where one of the players is talking about playing Shadowrun, which "new guy" thinks is cool. Now, if you look at strip 1 for Chapter 3, it clearly says "I...

Re: Talk About Geekdom

But what I'm wondering is how you personally fell into geekdom. Did you have friends who introduced you? Were you pressganged into it? Thrust into headfirst like Mark? Did you actually stalk the bookstore? I guess this is kind of a Hello post too, since I just joined. So, uhm, Hi! Welcome, welcome....

Does today's strip remind anyone else of the Matrix? While I was reading today's strip I kept kept thinking of a scene near the beginning of the first movie where Neo had gotten forced into a car by the other good guys and he has not the least idea of what is happening. Of course I could just be im...

Seriously, I love Chuck Norris. I own 10 Chuck Norris movies. He's awesome.
:D
How about Sidekicks? Not the best Norris, but pretty cool. Even if it is a rip-off of Karate Kid.

Some of my favorites... Chuck Norris counted to infinity. Twice. Chuck Norris can believe it's not butter. One time somebody told Chuck Norris that a roundhouse kick is not the best way to take someone out. This has since been recorded as the stupidest thing ever said by anyone, ever. Chuck Norris ...

That Cosplay image is awesome, but what's even better is that it was probably spontaneous. I love it when two cosplay groups that are supposed to be enemies just leap into the fray without any prior planning.... Did that... I tussled with Dog the Bounty Hunter (not actually him) in my Doc Ock costu...

This is rather old hat, but still makes me laugh. Anyone have some fun Chuck Norris facts? Maybe make up some new ones? Here are a couple of my favs: Who let the dogs out? Chuck Norris let the dogs out... and then roundhouse kicked them through an Oldsmobile. They once made a Chuck Norris toilet pap...

It takes a lot of practice and patience for dream control... moreso than I have. But I've dabbled. Just listen to "Silent Lucidity" by Queensryche. It gives the formula. (Visualize your dream) (Record it in the present tense) (Put it into a permanent form) (If you persist in your efforts) (You can a...

No excuse. I program specific playlists to play while I sleep. I've dabbled with dream experimentation on and off for several years.

Try having to re-do all your assorted Winamp playlists every time you move music to a new folder or drive.

Yesh, I am a fan of the Steve the Pirate story. I can not find the picture but oh man some friends and I dressed up for Dodgeball, we got little dodgeballs and some sweatbands that belonged in the 80's and pulled our hair up into high ponytails. Now that was hilarious but made the movie ten times m...

Not "Twister". It should also be mentioned that the great majority of tornado damgae is caused by the wind shear, not the wind speed. GAR! Must tell a quick story here... this is for my fellow fans of the movie "Dodge ball". I worked for a little while in a sign shop, taking a break from computers ...
