Re: Reinventing micropayments (again)

What you're selling is downloadable versions of things that are already essentially downloadable for free-- there's very little value added. It's probably more viable than the micropayments model, though because most of the "cost" there is in the purchase decision itself (and in the hassle of proces...

Re: Quick! Someone give me a witty subject line.

Not that I'm aware of. So the newsbox system strictly penalizes you for not being G-equivalent? The idea goes that an MA comic might also have an MA newsbox image, and that a G/low rated comic usually wouldn't want an MA comic to advertise on their site anyway. I understand the logic of wanting to ...

I suspect some are trying to emulate the kind of banter typical of movies in the 30s, like "It Happened One Night," where snarky dialogue was the only means of conveying sexual tension. Trouble is, nowadays, the dialogue often isn't all that witty, and it typically makes the woman look a loony shre...

Seems to work alright for "Penny and Aggie" :)

Interesting.

By framing a review in medical terms, it feels almost like you're addressing the author (what can be done to save the patient?) rather than approaching it from a reader's point of view (what sort of person would like this comic and why).

Collective looks cool, though.

Re: Help Centre Mode: On.

Clickthroughs for pogs and newsboxes can be tracked quite easily; just log into siteadmin and view your statistics. Look for these urls in your referrers: http://guide.comicgenesis.com/newshack.php <---represents the number of newsbox clickthroughs. http://www.comicgenesis.com/ <---represents the n...

Tracking Newsbox Efficacy

OK, so I just got my newsbox approved-- and as I'm crazy for readership metrics (mad as that seems for a comic with two regular readers!), I'd like to be able to track how many times it's been showed/clicked on (I seem to recall something about ratings affecting when/if the box is shown?). The same ...

firstly i loooove your art `3` Thank you so much! :) At the base of a coming from two different "worlds" love story is the concept that for each person the other is something they've never experienced, like nothing they've really known. Coming from a different world they think, act, live differentl...

Perhaps... He reminds her of a former mortal that she loved way back in the day. The memories are strong enough she believes he might be a reincarnation. Regardless it gives her incentive to make the first move, That's very much the case (which would be a lot clearer if CG would actually update Fri...

Writing romance right

I'm doing a comic called Olympus, which is really, at heart, a love story between a mortal and a goddess. Quite aside from being troubled that this is a cliched Geek Fantasy Stereotype ("Beauty and the geek"?), I'm really concerned about the difficulty of writing an opposites-attract romance. I've b...

Here'za thing: 1) Poser looks bad. The models look stiff and unoriginal, like mannequins. If there's any truth to the "Uncanny Valley" hypothesis, Poser is right smack dead in the center. 2) Most CGI stuff looks like it's aspiring to realism, rather than a stylized image. When you're trying for real...

Personally, I wouldn't go about *seriously* trying to promote your comic (or any comic) until you have a pretty decent archive built up. (More than ten. More like 50.) It's always a little disheartening to click on someone's webcomic advert and find, mm, maybe 12 comics... not enough for me to real...

I can vouch for the usefulness of StatTracker. It's a good one, and free as well. Seconded. I've been using them for awhile too and have only had satisfactory results. :) Thanks!
