Re: My wonderful idea for a webcomic

Lovesthorn, If you think it will be fun and you enjoy it, go ahead and do it! If you want to be creative and tell a story, but you aren't good at drawing, but you can handle a camera, do it! However, realize that photocomics are not popular. The other posters here are correct. People just prefer dra...

I think the http://www.ccawards.com web site could be jazzed up a bit. Include some graphics or images or something that make it look like it has something to do with comics. Right now, it's kind of plain. Doesn't look like a fun comic site. The Web Cartoonists' Choice Awards text banner blends too ...

Shardz, yes, good idea. A direct link to a Nomination Suggestions message thread on the Category List page next year. Like: Outstanding Newcomer - This is an award that acknowledges the best new comic of this year. Eligible candidates would be any comic that debuted within the last year. Click this ...

TdotOdot2k, where did you get that number? Was that for this year? The deadline is not over for ballots (I only got mine yesterday) so I expect that more people will be finishing their ballots this weekend.

I'd like to see the data for all the years, not just one.

I think it would be helpful for the streamlining discussion if we had some historical data about how many people are voting as the number of categories increased, etc. Can the board post a table with the following information in it? Year | # of categories | # of voters | Vote Completion Rate* 2001 2...

Notorious, I guess we have different definitions of bias. I don't believe a bias against photo webcomics means someone is a "hater". To me, bias is simply treating something differently (pro, con, or indifferently) than other things. To me, that's not bad. Everyone is biased about hundreds of things...

NotoriousMEQ, First, please do not take me out of context. Here is what I actually said in full about your (and my) biases: Actually, yes, I do believe you have a bias if you're not willing to look at a few photo comics that other posters said are good comics. It's exactly the same way I am biased a...

NotoriousMEQ , Are you saying lobbying for something that directly effects me is somehow less acceptable than lobbying for something that I have absolutely no interest in? I disagree with that. Aren't you doing the same thing? By lobbying against the "dilution" of categories by adding photo comics, ...

Last year, I started the lobbying effort to get the CCA to add an Outstanding Photographic Comic category. As a photo comic artist, I am very greatful that the CCA graced us with a category. Thank you for using your platform to help promote a newer art form! Photocomics do not get the recognition or...
