I co-write my strip. And really- the characters run the strip. So, I don't bother classifying it. They do whatever they're gonna do, and I'm just along for the ride. What are some of the difficulties you've been having with Photoshop? That might make it easier for people to offer advice. If it's a cost issue, The GIMP is free, and most people find that it gets results comparable to Photoshop for most things.

You can also get really good deals from ASW My old art prof swears by it...

I have a similar thing, of source pictures. I also like to scan sites for different faces I find interesting. Some of them become characters, some don't, but it helps to have a facial reference for characters I don't draw very often.

Sorry, by tweedle I mean adjust the levels, curves, brightness, color balance, and contrast until it looks how you want it.

Try scanning it in color, in photo mode, and then tweedling it. I had the same issue with lineart and greys coming out weird, and that helped.

I make enough money to support my site, and to occasionally buy presents for folks. If I wanted to make 'real' money, I'd offer stuff to sell.

Hm. It would be a lot easier to see what's going on with more contrast between the characters and the background. If you want to stick with the pencil, I highly suggest checking out Bad Blood . That's just messy.

I draw at 250 dpi, but I also zoom in to 200% or more when I ink. That alone makes a huge difference. (Just make sure to zoom out once in a while to keep your perspectives right.)

I'm also slightly OCD, and having that type of organization puts my mind at ease (and also makes the archive calendar look pretty...) Ooh yeah! I love that! Uhm. Maybe think about broadening your site design a little. As it is, the whole site is set up in one long line, you could put your cbox next to your blogger, or something. Stuff at the very bottom of the page tends to get lost. The background is kind of distracting, even though it's just black and grey...

Yeah, I have probably decades of script for it so... I plan on continuing it as long as the characters are chewing on my brain.

I think that artists are harsh because we're also usually our own worst critics. Slacks posted asking for help and critique, theoretically with a bent towards making their art better. If everyone were to say, "Oh, it's fine, keep going..." that's kind of useless as a critique. So far as critique goe...
