A problem I have, as a reader, is that I tend to read just the text bubbles. I only refer to the pictures when the dialogue becomes unclear. Is there a good way, as a writer, I can counter this? Hm, from my experience, many people who just start reading comics, have the same problem (though this ca...

Come on now. Isn't it a bit silly to argue that one view or the other is the right way to see it? I'm just facinated by how different people can look at a comic with completely different eyes. Personally, all comics that I like (save for gag strips) uses decompression, and I think that's a big part ...

Ok, improved panel done. It's on page 190, if you're interested. Can't post a picture here because I'm at work now.

Thank you again for the help!

Oh, and page 190 is not work safe.

I'm more curious as to why the male-writer/female-artist dynamic appears to be so pervasive. I can think of several comics that have this set-up, but off the top of my head I can't think of a mixed pairing where it is the other way around. Our partnership in making WBK is actually female writer/mal...

Thank you for your helpful input! I'll get right to redrawing the panel after work today. I totally agree about the horizon. I should have put it below the panel, I see that now. And the reason for that is... that in a panel like this, the "camera" is facing upwards, right? And everything bel...

Three-point perspective... Is it okay?

Hi. Recently I did something I've never done before - I drew a panel in three-point perspective. Being a bit unsure of my perspective-drawing skills, I figured I might need a second opinion before the page is finished... <a href="http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v611/emeliemattias/?action=view&curr...

What Birds Know has updated

Just wanted to let you know that What Birds Know has updated again for the first time in forever. Nothing really happens in this update, but at least the summer vacation is over. This summer has been very busy for us, and things haven't completely settled down yet, so expect sporadic updates ...

I don't think there's much that I wouldn't draw given the chance, mwahahah! There's already one boob in WBK. And it's on a minor, too. But there's a good reason for that, so it's cool. But it'll only get worse as we go along. I think violence and gore is far, far worse that nudity, though. I've alwa...

Some fillers here and there could be a good thing in the right comic. I liked the fillers in RPGWorld, if I remember correctly. Fillers just wouldn't work in WBK. Everything is just one big story arc, so there's nowhere to insert it. Besides, if we had time to make a filler strip, we would have time...

as an off-shoot, and in response to hallonpress' answer: What about choosing a more simplistic style, not skimping on backgrounds and such, but definitely dumbing it down, in order to get it out quicker? I mean, say I'm capable of professional level work (I'm not, but we're pretending for the sake ...

I don't think you should ever make compromises because of lack of time. Think of it this way: Once you've made a page, it will stay a part of the comic for a very long time. It goes into the archive, and there it remains until the webcomic is taken off the web. In a month or two, who will care if th...

So did we, back in the days... I think it's a good idea to have tomething for readers to dig in to from the start. Before you even launch, no one cares if you take a few more weeks to make a few more pages, right? :)

I guess having a buffer is linked to how long it takes to draw each page...

I wish we had a 22-page buffer. That would be cool. *sigh* :(

...but who am I kidding? If we had like 22 pages, we'd just update with 22 pages that week. XD How can you keep all those pages to yourself?

Hey. "Marry Me" has to be one of the most impressive webomics I've come across (although it's only fifteen pages yet). Thanks for letting me know it existed. :D
