Re: So... Merchandising?
I've made print issues of the chapters of my webcomic. I've sold some copies of them online, but I mainly sell them at local conventions. Haven't been to one in a few months though, have to get back in the habit-when it gets warmer.

Re: Mini Indie comics
I've made print copies of each chapter of my comics and sold them at conventions and online. I've done fairly well in both arenas, better at conventions though. Seem my comic is better explained face-to-face than left to sell itself.

Re: Ridiculous comic ban
I bet there's nothing in the comic the cops don't already know about. After all, if I recall correctly, the "Master drug smuggler" was already in prison himself when he was giving the creator tips for his comic, and the protagonists DO end up under police surveillance almost as soon as they start mo...

What I do is: - sketch out my panels in pencil - go over the page in pen and ink - erase all my pencil lines thoroughly - scan it into Photoshop That's basically my process as well, except afterwards I use the Clone Stamp and Pencil tools to correct inking mistakes and clean up my lines. It works a...

You may want to try TIFFs, instead of PSD files. In my experience, TIFFs tend to be smaller, at least once you've flattened or merged all the layers you may use on them (or you avoid using layers altogether). I generally scan in my inked pages at 600dpi in TIFF format to create files that are around...

Don't think that online is the only venue you can use for selling merchandise. I've had surprising success selling print copies of my comic at local conventions. The amazing thing is, I'm pretty sure most of the people who've bought my stuff have never seen it online-yet they've bought it anyway, af...

The Vanguard Is Going Strong
It's been several months since the last time I promo'd my comic here, but my sci-fi superhero action serial The Vanguard is still going strong. It's now up to 89 pages divided into 4 chapters. Here's a sample panel of the latest page: http://www.macnuthome.com/vanguard/images/Ch4Pg6Preview.jpg Check...

Yeah, but word-of-mouth kinda happens by itself. That one's a given. Although I won't argue with you about its power. In my experience things that spread by word of mouth achieve the kind of success that never goes away. Just look at Harry Potter. And Google. They both spread that way and just look...

The Vanguard's Adventures Continue!
Since it's been several months since I last pitched my comic here, I figured it was time for a refresher. For those who may not know or who may have forgotten, The Vanguard is a team of superpowered adventurers who explore and defend the galaxy of the 24th century. They are the galaxy's last line of...

*Reviving this thread from impending death* I've had some success putting PW ads on comic sites like Graphic Smash and Crimson Dark (a nice sci-fi comic btw). But I've also had equal success with non-PW ads on sites like Schlock Mercenary and Alpha-Shade, neither of which use PW-they have a big enou...

Does it seem to anybody else that traffic for web comics only comes from other, more popular web comics? Is the readership base out there actually growing at all or is it just stagnanting and shifting from one side of the pond to the other? It can seem that way, but like someone else said, it's mai...

Chibi, thanks for taking the time make those comments! Those were exactly the kind of critique I was looking for! As for the comments themselves, I was already using most of those techniques you mentioned, but I do need to do more cleanup work on the line art, and I do need to work on my expressions...

Speech Fonts
I'm trying to figure out a better font to use in my comic's speech bubbles. I've been using Comic Sans but have quickly run into the limitations of that font (no bold italic . Boo, hiss). I'd like some recommendations of a font to use to replace it. It should be easily read in caps at 6-8 point size...

I have several examples of explosions and fires in my comic-which you might expect from a superhero-type action adventure. The latest page is an example of a nuclear-type explosion, complete with mushroom cloud: http://www.webcomicsnation.com/macnut/vanguard/series.php?view=archive&chapter=11288 Her...

I saw your comic earlier, from a link on Comixpedia. I'm not really qualified to comment on art, but I'll say that your art looks servicable. With one caveat that I almost hate to mention. :) From the first page, it is glaringly obvious that all your main characters are transplants from City of Her...
