Re: Pushing yourself to be better?
I used to really try to push myself, back when I had the energy and time, aka when all I had to do was keep the house clean and cook a few meals. Now that that part of my life is over I'm way too exhausted after the whole survival part of my day/week/month is taken care of, so if I manage to draw, i...

In my short and humble experience here's what works best: 1) Paying to get your banner on popular sites 2) Vote incentives for the ranking sites 3) Making friends with as many other comic artists as possible 4) Staying active on as many forums as possible These are all either time or wallet consumin...

1.) What Program/s do you use to make your comics? I use traditional media but I fix it up in Photoshop. 2.) What dpi do you work in? 300 3.) What is your prefered strip format. I use jpeg. 4.) Color or B&W? Fainting Spells is color but I'm also working on a short story that will be black and white.

This has been the shittiest week. My only close friend down here announced that she had emphysema and possibly cancer. The following day another person I like (who is 68) announced that he has terminal cancer and wrote to say goodbye. Then the following day, my friend who is sick called to tell me t...

Fainting Spells
I just realized I've been here almost a year and I've never actually pitched Fainting Spells. So I'm going to remedy that right away : ) To put it in context, I first started Fainting Spells as a little art experiment. By this I mean I've been letting the artwork drive the story, rather the other wa...

Who were your idols? Erin Mehlos who draws Hell's Corners. Since then we've become friends, so even though she is still my idol, I have to fangirl in secret otherwise it makes her uncomfortable ^.^;; Did you have any friends who helped you? Not at the very beginning, but I've always found help whene...

I just think you should keep trying to improve the art. You've already improved a lot in a short time in terms of panel composition and coloring/shading, so I know you're trying. I still get the feeling that you could do better. For now it would be good to focus on the hands, they sometimes suffer f...

I'd say whichever is more coherent with the art style. Since I draw my comic by hand, the font I used in the beginning looked very out of place. To match the organic feel of the page, I had to pick fonts that looked scribbled, but they were hard to read. I'm a lot more comfortable fitting the text n...

I don't think we have overdone it, myself, but as a general rule, to draw things in a strange perspective for no reason, is not a good thing to do. The reason we do it, as you say, is to make it more interesting and more dynamic and alive. I dislike comics being to static. Some people have said tha...

"push F11 for full screen"? It works in the three major browsers, (and maybe safari, but i don't have a mac handy to test it on) Doesn't work in Safari. It pushes all of the open windows outside of the screen, and you have to press the button again to get them back - not in a useful way, like the E...
