Re: Over-Reacting

You sound like you were a very angry young man. .... Or a typical teenager depending on personal perspective, I suppose. Though in my experience, teenagers who follow through with the rage you describe are few and far between. I don't know that I would call it rage. I've gotten mad enough at a coup...

Over-Reacting

I notice that a lot of the responses to this latest story arc are so ... mature. Even the ones who are recalling similar instances from their own lives seem to have the benefit of perspective now. It makes for a very different telling than the one that went into the diary the night the whole thing w...

http://fc02.deviantart.com/fs30/f/2008/095/3/e/011010110_as_Simpson_I_by_twp3pf2.jpg Hmm. Perhaps I was a bit TOO honest in my choices here. I didn't see any options for broad shoulders, iron jaws, ripped abs, biceps that move like volkswagens parallel-parking, buns of steel--...hmm. Well, I guess ...

Yeah, it's pretty emo. I don't know what it means, either, because I've never actually tried to do an online comic; the poem just barfed out fully formed like a memory of actual events. Even sadder: this poem is true for so many artists. READ A NEW WEBCOMIC TODAY, PEOPLE! COMMENT ON IT! WRITE FAN MA...

Fan ... Poetry?

I usually post silly poems in the SayBox, but this is a silly poem that is too long to go there--unless I was to put it in installments (a la Dickens) and most of the crowd would probably just say, "Who is this guy and why is there one stanza of a lame poem here--" You know what? I'm over-explaining...

I'm just anxious to see what humorous questions you add; I think I read an FAQ page now waiting for a punchline, just like in the strip it accompanies. Examples: Q: Are most people, like me, intimidated by your exotic looks and superior intelligence? A: Yes. Q: What did MENSA say when you turned the...

MST3K FTW, totally. I have been trying to organize an event with my siblings--five brothers and me--where we film ourselves from behind while we watch some movie and heckle it to death. It's what we do anyway, and it would be nice to have; my kids have already started doing it during Disney movies....

Hey! I saw 'Failure to Launch' a while back, and I couldn't figure out why Zooey looked so familiar; it had just been a while since I saw Mumford, and she's grown up a little. But every time I see "My Name is Earl" I remember where I saw that guy the first time. LOVE Labyrinth, too--when I was a kid...

Hey, look! Your UG doll has no shirt on! And mine: http://ic1.deviantart.com/fs12/f/2006/341/3/4/UG_Ragdoll_by_twp3pf2.jpg I hope the picture is not too risque--what with the no pants--but I wanted to show the type of doll it is, with the legs tied off. I've seen these filled with sand or beans, and...

Well, now, there's one movie that makes me cry: I Am Sam . I think it's because I have a little girl--and we might be having another one--and I just spend the whole movie thinking how devastated I would be if my babies were taken away. A long time ago, when I was a kid, there was a cartoon movie tha...

AWWWWW! That is such a sweet drawing! You know, it just reminds me that I have always thought UG would make a nice rag doll--if only I could figure out what to use for hair. Stitching the eyes would be the easy part, and obviously the signature, and I bet I could get my cousin to knit that sweater. ...

I finally saw "Walk the Line" and although I'm not obsessed with any of the songs in it--didn't really grow up with Johnny Cash on the radio--I've been playing my guitar a lot more, and writing gritty, folksy stuff. Whoa. P.S. Hey, Nanda, where's the new avatar from? Looks like your work (not fanart...

I have a theory about that--it's pretty lame, and it involves tired analogies about snowflakes and fingerprints--but basically boils down to everyone getting affected differently by the music or the movie. There is literally no predicting who will like what--or how much they will like it. That's why...

Movie Obsessions?

And as if the musical obsession wasn't enough... I have watched Hellboy and The Punisher about ten times apiece; I don't know if it's just that I love comic book movies, or what. And, of course, I have seen It's a Wonderful Life more times than I should admit--"Merry Christmas, Mr. Potter!"--and yet...

Musical Obsessions?

Just to see if anyone still checks this forum: For some reason, I've got Killer Queen (the single) on a loop right now, and I don't feel like changing the playlist. Anybody out there ever listen to a song twenty times in a row? I also listened to Cigarettes and Chocolate Milk by Rufus Wainwright ove...

Celebrity Deathmatch: Spaz vs FBoy

Just kidding about the Deathmatch thing, obviously. Since Nanda is being deliberately coy about her preferences on the matter, I thought--instead of just cheering insanely for Spaz--I would try to provoke insightful discussion about UG's two suitors. For example... [Barbara Walters impersonation] "N...

This is going to sound a little high-toned and hoity-toity, but here goes: We may say that there is something wrong with people who pursue physical attraction rather than intellectual or spiritual intimacy, but that doesn't mean that physical attraction can be dismissed as a qualification for intima...
