Well, it doesn't take much to be a scientist. . . love for and curiosity about nature, some ability to observe what's going on around you, and a field guide or two (or ten, or 100 - you can never own too many field guides!) - and voila! Poof! You're a scientist.

Actually, what squirrels REALLY do in the winter is pretty neat. You may notice lots of leafy, round "nests" showing up high in trees in the fall. They're called Dreys, and they are a squirrel's winter hideout when it does get too cold. <P>Now, ground squirrels and chipmunks DO hibernate. . .<P>Okay...

Ummmm. . . <P>Nice to see Brem again, but I've never heard of a tree squirrel that hibernates.
